Is it possible to NOT display the parent category on a Category List view page?

Sorry, I had to change the site. Putting each listing in a subcategory took the parent category off the gallery.
So I need to come at this a different way...
Is there a way to link from text in an article to a detail view of a particular work?

You can customize plugin - e.g. to remove the images and add the text links instead.

To what plugin are you referring? I have the component installed - as opposed to the plugin.
