Restriction from direct download

Does Phoca Download allow direct download once the content is restricted by Joomla 1.6 ACL? Preventing non registered users but also people just typing in the direct address for the file.

Do you mean the direct link as PD is showing or the real link to the file?
In the first case all requests are handled by Joomla and so PD is involved and would disallow downloads.
In the second case it depends on your server settings but in most cases the server would directly access the file without involving Joomla and so there are no restrictions. You can avoid this situation by moving the files offered by PD to a path where the server has no access to. So it is only possible to download the files by using Joomla and PD.
