I have a similar question. What I want to do is to create a "Customer Photo Category" and then set up a menu item for the User Control Panel and let them only create sub-categories under the "Customer Photo Category" only as subcategories. Can this be done? I know that I can create the Customer Photo Category and let them upload photos into this category, but it does not have the option to let them create sub-categories, and this is needed so as to separate their pictures out.

to get info what is possible with frontend - in UCP you can create subcategories but main category must be created, in category view, you cannot create subcategories.
