Scrapbooking is my passion, I started scrapbooking when I was 7..... and then off and on until I REALLY got back into it in 2003 when my husband brought me a copy of Creating Keepsakes magazine while I was recovering from surgery. Boy did he not know what he was getting himself into. Scrapbooking and paper crafting has been my therapy, my creative outlet, I have made amazing friends, I am now the family (my side of the family) documenter. I love making cards for family and friends... and I now podcast about it....

I like being creative.  I like scrapbooking with my friend Linda or a group of fellow scrappers/stampers at a Crop.  I tell people it's like an old fashioned Quilting Bee.

I love to relive my children's younger years as I compose a layout. I am a little behind. One is getting married. Lol. But I always try a new idea or new technique. It helps with the dementia (just kidding).

I love all the friends i have made since I've been scrapbooking. I Love how my family really enjoys seeing what i created and appreciates the love and time i put into each page. Most of all I love when my son and daughter (both adults) want to pick up an album and reminisce for hours with me.

What I love about scrapbooking is that I'm leaving a legacy of memories for my kids. Their lives are well documented. There are so many stories from my own childhood, that I wish I could remember. People and places I wish I had pictures of. My kids will have that. My dad took a lot of pictures and was meticulous about dating them and getting them in albums with a title card. I appreciate and am grateful for that, but the stories aren't there.

I have been an avid scrapbooker for about 14 years now and it got my Mom back into her artwork. My mom and I spend time shopping, going to shows and crops and meeting a lot of creative people. It has been so much fun!

I've always liked crafts and craft supplies, and I like taking photos and always need somewhere to put them. Before I discovered scrapbooking as an official activity, I was making photo albums and decorating them in different ways. Just kind of a natural fit, I guess.

I started scrapbooking in the early 2000s with my girl scout troop and than I made a prom scrapbook for my first prom I went to when I was a Juinor in 2004, but I really made the jump in 2010 when I had my first son and I wanted to keep all the memories. I started buying stuff, than I just never stopped. Its the best way I keep track of my memories, I am able to look back and see all the memories that weve made and sometimes you forget an moment intil you see the pictures and read the stories. its the best ever.

I love scrapbooking from the moment I started.  It’s been about 20 years now.

It’s my creative outlet.  I worked a stressful job as a NICU nurse and I could always relax playing with pretty papers.  Never thought I was an artist, because I couldn’t draw or paint.  But, now I know I am.  My media is paper.  

I scrapbook trips I take and relive them by looking through my albums.

I love to scrapbook the grandkids.  They love coming to look at their books, knowing they all have their own albums from birth.  

And now I enjoy making cards too and sending them to friends and family.  Hallmark has become too expensive.

I have met some fabulous people in this craft.  I travelled to Australia 4 years ago and met up with someone I had met on line.  You would think we had known each other our entire lives.

Besides the artistic and creative outlet, the memory preservation, the history kepping, and all the obvious things???

My love runs a little bit deeper.  
I have scrapbooked since before ANY of my kids were born, so, it is obviously "a way of life" for them.  They would moan and groan about taking pictures, but would always sneak around the corner to watch me make the layout with them in it.  As they grew, they would pull out their albums to show off to friends, family, even teachers. 
The year before my son died, he was a senior in high school.  His school did an exercise that educated the community about the dangers of drinking/texting while driving. It is called "Shattered Lives".  My son participated and was one that was selected to "die" at the scene of the mock accident.  Part of his requirements as a participant was to write a letter to his parents, etc.  and tell them what they want them to know.
In the letter that my son wrote to me for this exercise, He said,  "Mom, I know we moan and groan every time you take out your camera. And I know we act like it is killing us to smile for your pictures...but, Mom, we really love it.  We love your scrapbooks, it shows us that you love us and you cherish all of your memories of us.  We love you so much for that. Please Don't ever stop.  Make Chance and Aubrie and Dayne and Skye smile more now that I am gone." 
Of course, this was just a theatrical exercise, but the words in his letter were from his heart.

Less than a year later, My son died.  I still have the letter...and of course there is more to it than just about scrapbooking.  His words impact me more now than they did then.  I love scrapbooking because it shows the people I scrap about just how much I love them.

Scrapbooking makes me happy. I sometimes get excited just seeing the pictures and the memories that come with them. I LOVE it when a layout that might take me what feels like forever to complete gets me so excited that I start clapping my hands. It is crazy, but yes that happens. I get so excited about it that I clap at myself because I actually made it!!

The people and friends I've met along the way. It's relaxing and there are no mistakes....just opportunities for unique creations. It's a good way to remember times gone by. And who doesn't love playing with paper. It just makes me happy to make pretty things.
