Re: Inquiring Minds...Day 8
Your story is similar to mine. I had my first born, a son and it was such a learning period. Then came my daughter and another boy. She wanted a sister really bad and when I got pregnant again, we had a girls name chosen. Well, HE was a twin, and his twin was  a boy, stillborn sadly, so no more girls. I had my hands full with my last and although often thought of some little girl waiting for me to bring her into this world, I was scared I couldn't tend to my special needs child and a newborn. So, 4 living wonderful children and when my daughter became a mom, it was to a beautiful grandaughter! I now have 9 grandchildren plus a couple of foster kids that call me Grandma!

Re: Inquiring Minds...Day 8
I have 5 grandchildren (two I've never met...long story better left untold) and three with whom we are very close.  My daughter and her husband had "undiagnosed infertility" issues and, after 7 years of marriage and various other procedures, decided on invetro.  We have twin boys who are now 5 and pure delight and then...Baby Oops came along out of the blue and now we have our little Leighton who will be 4 in Nov.

We have provided child care in one form or another since the boys were  born and will be the back up starting this year when the boys will be in K at the school where their mama teaches and Leighton will go to a pre K 4 class nearby.

If I had known how much fun Grands are...I'd have skipped the kids and gone staight for the Grands...lol

Re: Inquiring Minds...Day 8
We have 2 children, a son who's 33 and a daughter who just turned 32. Our son is single and unmarried with no children, and our daughter has given us two beautiful grandchildren who you all know… Maddie is 6 1/2 and Aiden will be 3 next month. They only live 10 minutes from us so we get to see them all the time. Image

Re: Inquiring Minds...Day 8
I think your comments were very appropriate Laura, and I try to be conscious of the fact that I have been blessed with a large family. In a way though, I have rant about the other end of things.

I have 6 kids....ages 26, 24, 19 (20 in a couple of weeks), 16, 14, and 13. After the first were born, a girl and a boy, I got lots of comments from people about "you're done now, right? You have the perfect little family, a boy and a girl." Well, that arrangement may be perfect for some, but it wasn't for me. I never wanted just 2 kids. I grew up the youngest of 5 and always wanted my kids to have the fun of siblings that I had growing up. I didn't think I would end up with six though...I always said 3 or 4. After the 4th, I knew I wasn't done and had the 5th. After that, number 6 was our little surprise. And what a blessing he has been! It's been a busy, loud ride, but it's been fun too. Adam, 26, is married and lives in Missouri with his wife Emily. They'd love to have kids but for reasons I won't go into here, it'll be a long road that will take dedication and money and that's not in the cards right now. Evan is 24, lives with his girlfriend in a town about half an hour from us. I love them both, but neither is financially ready for kids in any way....they struggle just to pay their day to day bills on a WalMart income. Ali is almost 20, and just started dating a guy that I really like, but again, they are far from being the the mind of having kids lol. Keegan, 16, Adrian, 14, and Callum, 13, are also still at home with Ali and just worried about school.

I divorced when my youngest was 2, and remarried 3 1/2 years ago. He got my six kids in the bargain, and I got his son...David, who is 35. David and his wife are pregnant with their first, a little girl, due the early part of September! I"m gonna be a grandma! I refuse to use the Grandma title though...I told David his mom can have it. I'll be Nonnie or Oma (German for grandmother) or something like that. But I"m excited that David's mother is involving me in the baby shower for Jasmine...I didn't think I was going to be allowed much of a role (long story, and like someone else said, best not addressed here). I'm thrilled!

I have a 20 year old and a 17 year year old.  I certainly am not hoping to be a grandparent anytime soon.
