Do You Print Your Photos...
or have them 'developed'?

If you print - what printer do you use most and what would you change?

If you develop - who do you use and do you love them?

Do you find that the processing of your photos is the easiest thing about scrapbooking, or the worse thing about it?

I have mine developed at Costco.  I really like their pricing, size options, and they are so close I can have them in an hour or less if I want them that fast. I find, for me, it is more cost effective than printing my own.

I print my own - love that I can crop and edit pics to suit.  I try and fit as many as possible on my paper before printing.,  I use an HP photosmart.  The thing I hate about printing is the cost of the ink - however, that goes for all printers.

I print my own so I can print the sizes I want which comes in handy for sketch challenges. Like Heather, i fit as many on an 8 1/2 x11 sheet of photo paper. I have an Epson printer, I keep thinking  I want a wide format printer but don't have the room or the $$$$.

If I need something quick I use CVS.  They have the easiest program to work with through the Kodak Kiosk to choose what size photos you need.  In my particular area, they also have the best customer service and coupon/sale opportunities.
If I can wait a bit I use WalMart or Sam's,  I love the weight of the paper they use and the color saturation is really good.  Sam's is great for 1-hour, and I order from WalMart.com and have them shipped to the house.

I very rarely print my own.  I usually order from Shutterfly but when I really need some right away, I'll send them to CVS or Walgreens even though I prefer not to.

Re: Do You Print Your Photos...
I usually have mine printed through Shutterfly or Winkflash online.  DH is a very good photographer and very picky about how the photos look when printed, and even with a photo quality printer, he is usually not happy with how they look, but he thinks those online places do a good job (as does Walgreens, but we don't have one near by).

However, I print my own digi layouts.  DH has been very impressed with the quality of my Epson wide format printer on matte paper.  But, he still likes to have photos printed on glossy or semi-glossy, so I do the online.  Plus, it is faster that way. ;)

Re: Do You Print Your Photos...
I do both. For the longest time I printed my own because my Cannon printes several different sizes. But since I discovered a few online places (Shutterfly, Snap Fish and Photo Affections), I have been ordering all my 4x6 prints from them. Shutterfly a few times a year offers 101 free prints. Snap Fish, since I downloaded their mobile app, gives me 100 free prints a month for a year. Photo affections I just started using, because the give me 85 free prints a year. All I do is pay for shipping which is no more that a box of 4x6 glossy photo paper. If I find I need small pictures to go with my ordered 4x6 prints, I can print them myself. I am now saving on ink and paper, so for me it's a win win situation.

Re: Do You Print Your Photos...
I used to do both.  If they were going to sit around for a while I used Snap Fish (which even refunded by prepay money when I hadn't used in over a year).  Nice company.  I print regularly now and use my HP 7000  wide format, using Kodak paper.  It puts out great pictures.  Someone mentioned wanting a wide format but the cost was high.  This one is not overly expensive and the office supply stores regularly run sales on HP products.  Not sure if the 7000 is still out there or if its been reworked.

You can conserve your ink by using only black and draft print when you need to get an idea of the picture of if you are doing digital and want to see it before you print in color.  I also use these settings for anything I print out.  A penny saved is a penny earned.  I'm retired and love to earn a penny once in awhile :)

I do both. If I need a certain size I print them myself. If I am ordering lots of 4x6 I use Walmart.

Re: Do You Print Your Photos...
I do both.  If I'm going to be doing several layouts with one big theme, like a vacation album, I will print the photos, or if I get a good deal I will go ahead and print several in order to meet the minimum.  If I want to scrap with photos other than the standard size, I will print them, or if it's just one or 2 layouts that I don't have pics printed for.

My photos print beautifully and I use the HP photosmart 7520.  I also print using an after market ink refill, so I don't have to worry about spending a lot of $ on ink.  It's VERY inexpensive and the ink is good quality.

So did you use the after-market (???) ink on your 4th of July photos or have them printed - they look great.  I don't know what after-market ink is; can you explain because I have 4 hp printers.

I have printed at home when there is a certain picture that I want, but if I want a bunch then I order them at walmart and pick them up in an hour.  Walmart only 5 minutes from home so pretty convenient.

I print all my photos at home so that I can print the size I want to scrap. Those are the only photos we print anymore.

Re: Do You Print Your Photos...
I usually get them developed from Shutterfly and/or Snapfish. When I print them from home its usually because I want to use a photo RIGHT NOW, or I'm doing smaller photos.

I print my own and have been doing it for years. I use an Epson Picturemate printer. I've had it for about 7 years now and it's still going strong.
I like printing my own as I go. I just got through printing a collage for my next layout. I scrap 8x8 so printing my own works for me.

I print everything at home. I have a Canon Pixma photo printer. The ink has gotten more expensive over the past couple of years but I like the convenience of printing my photos at home. It's also nice to store the photos in labelled files on the computer until I am ready for them.

I go through Snapfish. I have so many to develop right now I have to wait a bit. And that makes it hard if there are Lo or Challenges I want to do.  I am looking at going to Sam's Club Because I am there a fewt ime sa mont anyway.
