on how to alter plain chipboard.  I bought the speech bubbles from Blue Fern with lots of text phrases and love them - sort of.  I have tried using OA mists and Color Shine mist but not real happy with how they turn out.  I have solid white acrylic but that's all that I have on hand.    I was hoping they would look more like Freckled Fawns wood speech bubbles, but alas no - leaving them plain on my brightly colored pages just doesn't work for me.  Can someone tell me the secret on how to use these?

Have you tried inking them? The new Prima sprays are pretty awesome too.

Oh you could also cover them with washi tape!

Paint, ink and Prima Sprays work great on chipboard.  Just add some little cluster embellishments to that and voila!

Depending on the detail you could cover them with paper. BUT that would be a lot of work. Depends on how detailed you want to have to cut. I love all these idea's.  Will have to follow this thread.

I have colored my chipboard pieces with Sharpie markers. There are new brush tip ones that come in lots of colors and metallics and work great!

I just used some for a couple of challenges on my layouts.  Here they are.  The chipboard itself looks plain in the photo, but I actually sprayed them with the antique gold Prima spray color, and it looks really pretty and shimmery in person - not at all like regular plain chipboard.  The first one was an oval and the second a large bracket.

I use acrylic paint on mine since paints are very inexpensive.

I have used ink pads to color some plain chipboard, though I haven't used the blue fern ones. Pigments work a little better but take longer to dry.

I like to use Tim Holtz stains & paints.  
I also like to stamp or stencil on mine sometimes.

I have more nekked chipboard than I know what to do with...so I will be following this!!

I have painted some white and added stickles and I have used bling on them. Both fun effects.

Thanks everyone so verry much.  I'm thinking of those TimHoltz Distress Acrylics. I've tried the ColorShine but theres too much shine and the color isn't true.   Here is the product I'm talking about - what do you think?
