Re: NSD Preparations
I put DH on notice that I plan to scrap most of the day away and that he might consider finding an alternate means of entertainment. :D  It would be awesome if he took the cat with him.  LOL

Re: NSD Preparations
I make sure I have quick meals and lots of snacks on hand. My hubby will be working so I do not have to worry about him being here. It would be nice if he was though because having a five month old boxer to chase after may be a problem. I am hoping it is nice outside so I can put her on the deck.  I also like to watch movies while I scrap so I pick out some ones to watch again.

I am wondering if I should change my board settings to Eastern time?  Since that's when the challenges are set?  Any suggestions on this?

Re: NSD Preparations
I tell DH a week in advance and he knows he's on his own. He can do whatever he wants. However, if he does leave the house, I'll have to stop and take the doggies outside.

Food-wise, DH is told he will have to make me breakfast. He always makes me strawberry waffles on crop days. Lunch is either leftovers or he makes or buys me something. Dinner is usually leftovers or he makes or buys me something.

Re: NSD Preparations
I already put bf on notice...  we usually do every silly little thing together on the weekends...  luckily this Saturday he is doing some work on a friend's vehicle so that will keep him occupied, then he will probably finish getting the boat ready b/c we plan on taking it out for the first time this year on Sunday.  My only problem is my two bff's and I planned a Coach Bingo night months ago so I do have to leave at 5, no getting out of that Image it was planned long ago.  As for supplies, I have stocked up on adhesives, et, packets that I just need to print photos for.  Food - I will be running to the   store for snacks to munch on - I definitely cannot concentrate on an empty stomach!  The minute the list of challenges, etc is up, I will print that and put it on my desk and I am ready to roll!  I will probably get all the housework done Wednesday and Thursday too so that Sunday after we get back, I can work on my challenges!

Re: NSD Preparations
Unfortunately I'm not going to be able to scrap the whole day as we have a 1st b-day party to go to in the afternoon. But I do plan to do stuff in the morning. Basically I am just trying to finish up a work deadline so I won't feel guilty lol and clean my scrap area and try to get some supplies together for the pics I think I'll be working on. The fast scraps are always a challenge for me because I really don't scrap fast at all. I take several days just to do a 1 pager lol. So I'm just going to wing it and have fun. Image

I would suggest that or if you have a little travel alarm that you can set to EST and put on your scrappy table...  it definitely helps!

Re: NSD Preparations
I will be out of town Saturday visiting inlaws and my momma too, so I won't be able to actually scrap any that day. But I DO have plans!  I'm planning on pawning the kids off on my MIL for the morning so I can get on here and chat and at least play a few games for a couple hours.  If I were home, I'd be ordering a HUGE order of prints this week to play with, and stocking up on CS and maybe pulling together a few page kits for some fast scraps, with papers and embellies ready to go. Of course having something for the kids to do, maybe encouraging hubs to take them somewhere for half the day and leave me alone! lol.  And coffee, iced tea, and yummy snacks! but only snacks that won't leave messy/greasy fingerprints on papers.... I know I could probably take a few page kits with me down there and work on a layout or two, but we're probably gonna be running around that day visiting people. there IS a chance we will be just relaxing all day, providing me time to scrap SOME. so I may take a few page kits just in case, but not sure I'll actually get to work on anything.

Re: NSD Preparations
Besides supplies, I make sure my "snacks" are close by, things that will not get my paper dirty of course. DH is really great about these, and he will occasionally poke his head in to see what I am up to, but usually he does his own thing, and I play.

Re: NSD Preparations
that being said, I know there will be challenges  I can work on when I get back, so maybe I really should start editing and order some pics this week!  We're coming back Monday and Olivia has a T-ball game that night and we'll be exhausted, then back to wrok for me, so maybe sometime that week at night I can work on some of the challenges.

yep, I need to order pics, for sure! hehe

Re: NSD Preparations
Kim posted this question on the weekend and I answered since I've never done an online crop - or crop of any kind - before I plan on winging it!
But reading thru those threads and this one I am not sure that's a good idea.   PLEASE keep the hints coming!

Re: NSD Preparations
I try to put together page kits with photos, papers and cardstock.  Then, after I know what the challenges are, I can see which ones fit which challenges and add the embellies as I go.

I also make sure I have some yummy snacks and beverages to keep me going and that my laptop battery is fully charged, since it goes to my scrappy studio with me.  ;)

No worries about feeding kiddos, since I don't have any and I just tell dh to plan on getting carryout for dinner!  lol

Definitely make sure you have plenty of adhesive and clean up your scrappy space a little.

Re: NSD Preparations
I have already talked with DH about Saturday. He isn't new to this, so he knows the order of things. He will make sure Tucker is taken care of. He also knows not to ask me to go anywhere or do anything ALL day. Since I will get up before him, I will have breakfast, but then he is on lunch and dinner duty. He has already started to pick up "scrapable" snacks (meaning nothing that is messy but is still yummy). He will also be sure to "check" on me once in awhile to see if I need anything cold to drink (we have a mini frige outside my scrappy room so that will be stocked anyway). This time around I don't have to warn the girls (neither one will be home anyway) to forget I am home. I have told them in the past to pretend I am far away on a beautiful island with no way of communicating Image I will so go through my new photos and see which ones I want to work on first. Since they are all 4x6, and I like to have smaller ones too, I will have to print off the smaller ones I need. Other than those things, everything should fall right into place for me Image

Re: NSD Preparations
DH goes to his annual all day town meeting
Kids are set up with easy grab and go food - hopefully nice weather will allow them outdoor play time :) (within ear shot/eyeline of course).
Load up on snacks/easy meals
Dunkin Donuts run bright and early :)
Check all my supplies, including adhesive!
Photo print order
Bookmark scrappy company websites/blogs (many do giveaways through out NSD)
have my camera at the ready
Pull together some empty containers for possible altered item/fast scrap use (toilet paper rolls, coffee cans, etc.) just in case
hound the ACOT board for the full week leading up to the crop for tips, tricks, hints etc.

Re: NSD Preparations
Told DH not to even think of wanting to go anywhere that day.  Cleaning my scrap area and taking stock of what is on hand of the must haves/needs such as adhesives etc.  Getting my meals planned and if possible prepared ahead of time.  The usual stuff I guess.  Easier for me as I am old(er) and have less outside pulls as you younger gals.
