I can't imagine someone having a dog suffer like Zeke is and not take him to a vet, and to not have any compassion for that poor baby. Why would anyone have a dog if they can't give it the love and care it deserves. (tears)

I am so happy for the little Yorkie! Thanks to you she has a new home. You are a real sweetheart!

One time before we had even Cider, my dd saw a dog running around in our backyard. We are fenced, but there was an open area the doggie got in. We went out to see if it had any tags, but he had no ID, just a rabies vaccination tag. I called the animal hospital that administered the rabies vaccine and asked them if they could track the owner by the number on the tag. They did, and when I spoke to the dog's owner she was estatic! The dog's name was Randy, and he had been missing quite a few days. AND he came from the next town over! Neither of us could believe how he got to our house from where he lives. Well, when she came to pick him up, she had her kids with her, and they all got out of the car and were crying "Randy" and hugged him and took him in the car. They thought they would never see him again. He was a pure bred Shitzu and she figured whoever found him would have just kept him. She couldn't thank me and my dd enough and a few days later she sent us a gift basket of goodies to show her gratitude. I can't tell you the feeling I got when they drove up in the car with tears of joy in their eyes. I still think of it to this day and I feel all emotional about it. So Susan, crying IS allowed!
Barb I just love that story!! It is something you never forget! That is so awesome! I do not know what I would do if I lost any of my babies! I have rabies tags and name tags with phone on it. I haven't had them microchipped but I am seriously thinking of it now.

Same with me. I don't have them microchipped either. But if they are every lost, all animal control or vet will do is scan them for a chip. If they find one, you will be notified immediately.
Molli and Tucker both have rabie tags, name tags with address and phone number and have both been mircrochipped. I didn't want anyone to not know where they lived and who loves them more then anything. I would be devestated if anything ever happened to either of them. I love my furbabies with all of my heart.
Mildred - Mom to 2 girls and a husband (I tell people that I am a single mom of 3. Ages 59, 37 and 31) lol. And a proud Grandma to Orahn (7) Sawyer (5) and Mazie (3).

Re: Doggie Rescue
Some people live under a rock - - - - or should. What a happy ending for your little rescue and what an awful thing about the shepherd. I have a shepherd, her name is Bay Lee and she is 15 years old. I'm sorry, but when they are in pain I am calling the vet asking what I should do or they go in and get on pain meds - when the time comes, and you know and they know, it's best to do what is best for them. It's a very, very hard choice to make, but you both know. I think the shepherd might have hip dysplasia and that is not something that a dog would die from. They have all kinds of treatments and they have chairs now as well. I can understand not having a job and the added cost etc...but - every city has a shelter - call them and explain your situation and most of the time they will actually cover the cost. Ugh, some people.

Re: Doggie Rescue
The kicker..... a neighborhood dog Zeke a german shepard who belongs to the house kitty corner to mine, came up to the yard because I always give him treats. He was dragging his back leg and trying to walk. His hips are all off kilter. I think he probably got hit and his back leg joint etc is messed up.... I went running to the owners house, finally got someone to answer the door. I told her that I thought Zeke had gotten hit by a car he was dragging his back leg could barely walk by then he had caught up with me. She just said oh yeah he has been like that for awhile. I was like what did the vet say she says I am not working so I haven't taken him. I know the vets around here would work with you-- I had to do that when I first got Merlin... Then she says well he's dying ...and I am like then put him down he is is in pain and misery. She is like well he is going to be taken care of.... then he tries to sit down and really can't hardly do it... I just burst into tears and told her I can't take this and just left. It just kills me. people like that do not deserve to have animals. If you can't take care of them --- don't have them. my heart is breaking.YOU HAVE GOT TO CALL THE HUMANE SOCIETY! I would have taken the dog myself and had him put down. He could go on in misery like that for MONTHS! PLEASE take action and do something.
