That is one thing I hate about dining out - the server takes your card and off they go......Indy Scrapper wrote:I am surprised they did not call you to verify the large charge. I had that happen on my Chase Visa a couple of years ago and they called at work, at home and on my cell. I asked how could that happen as I am so protective of my card. She responded that all it takes is to let your card out of sign for a second while a server runs your dinner tab and the card information can be captured and used. So......
So glad they did block your account though to prevent further charges.

Oh that stinks! I've gotten into the habbit of changing my accounts after a while since I had an issue onetime also.
I'm curious about the number of cherries who thought the credit card company should call on the dollar amount, I use my cc for basically everything I do and have never had them call on a large dollar amount.....Is that something you set up with them? It wouldn't be alarming for them to see a charges for hundreds of dollars on my cc or to have charges in 2-3 different states in one billing period.

They usually don't call for large dollar amounts. It's more if they see something out of character for your account, or they see things that they flag like hotel and airlines or a string of large purchases like computers and then other electronics the same day. I've purchased Macs without getting a call, and didn't get a call when I bought my iPad. But boy they just knew right away that something was "off" with my account!
Thanks for the info. I'm glad they do pay attention. Someone could really do some damage with a stolen cc in even one day.pawprints wrote:lastonehom wrote:Oh that stinks! I've gotten into the habbit of changing my accounts after a while since I had an issue onetime also.

That happened to two of our credit cards just this week, the companies flagged cause we moved out of state. Luckily the contact info was up to date and they contacted us immediately to authorize the recent charges.
It's really good when they're on the ball like that, isn't it? Are you in Hawaii now?
