I love old photos. To me, they tell a story and give me a little glimpse into my family’s history. My grandmother recognized this trait in me when I was a young teenager, and by the age of 16, she was giving me stacks of photos from her albums every time we visited. She knew I would be the one to treasure them.
So, as the official "Keeper of the Photos” in my family, imagine my surprise this past Easter when I saw that my mother had a photo that I didn’t have!! It was a lovely photo of my grandmother, with my mother and her brother and sister. It was a bit damaged, so I scanned it and fixed it in PhotoShop. When I started to scrap it, I thought it would be neat to add more recent photos of the 3 children. So, I took a group photo of the 3 siblings, and cropped them into individual pics. I had scrapped this more recent photo a couple of years ago during and ACOT crop, and it is still one of my favorite layouts. The kit I used for this new layout is Sweet Digi Scraps “Mother’s Hand.”
This layout was my inspiration for my first challenge as June’s Digi Guest CT. (Geez…..still can’t believe I’m the GCT!)
The theme - Then and Now
The requirements are simple -
(1) at least 2 photos of a person(s), place, or thing,
(2) if possible, at least a 20 year gap between the photos,
(3) upload your layout in the gallery by July 10, and
(4) post a picture of your layout in this thread.
Now - be creative! For people - you can use pictures of anyone - your grandparents, parents, yourself, your children, or your friends. Or pick a place - a favorite restaurant, a street corner, a family vacation spot. Or highlight a thing - a christening gown, a tree, or a favorite toy. The idea is to show the passage of time with your photos.
Most importantly - have fun!!! And I will have a GC for the winning layout (chosen randomly).
(I am hoping that a magic fairy will create a spot in the Gallery for this challenge! )
Here's the paper layout I did a few years ago with the group photo.

I put the deadline as July 10 because that's the end of my time as GCT, but I may be traveling around that time. So, if I don't check in and don't have the winner announced right away - don't worry!

Cielle...I love the LO with the comparisons. Lovely. And what a beautiful woman your grandmother was!

That sounds great! Go for it!!

Here's mine! These are pics of one of my brothers....from about age 6 or 7 until he passed away at 44. The journaling is hard to read...I made it subtle on purpose, but it talks about how Mark was adopted but was always the one who understood me and what I needed and was there for me. The world lost a wonderful person way too soon!

very nice Nancy - now go enjoy your vacation!
it's like you've been in my head for the past few days. dh has been complaining that I don't scrap him so I was looking at his pics and trying to figure out something and I've been creating a then and now spread in my head. I have to wait until my order comes but I can't believe how similar our ideas are - it was actually a little spooky!
congrats on being guest CT

LOL..I'm already having a good time! That layout was done earlier in the week, but couldn't upload it until Sus released her kit. But I HAVE to scrap next week if I move on in the competition I'm in!SWAY2865 wrote: very nice Nancy - now go enjoy your vacation!
