I was able to suspend a cell phone contract for 6 months while I was deployed and also reduce my credit card interest to 5% during that time also.
Yes I was going to post this as well, We had to do this with a phone contracct once, as long as you can show them proof of orders and why you can't keep up your obligations they allow it. I'm not sure with your case but we have done this once, when my dh had orders and we had a contract with a local cell service that wanted a cancellation fee, even though we were leaving because we had to.

They didn't do anything for us when DH was deployed with the SandS Act. You're right though, it all depends on the company and if they want to work with you. Not sure being TAD for a couple months would work, but they should suspend it. I would keep calling back or go into an office to talk to them about it.

I was active duty at the time (I've never been a reservist) and deployed in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. All I did was submit my travel orders to the subsequent companies and they (T Mobile at the time) suspended my phone contract until I returned and NFCU lowered my credit card interest rate to 5% during the time I was gone. It never hurts to ask :)

Verizon is our cell phone company and they are the ones that told us we'd have to pay for it regardless for 6 months. I just might have to call back and speak to a supervisor.

I can't believe we even have to have this discussion. It would seem to me that accomodating our military members would be a no brainer. :greenconfused:
OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙

Very very true! NFCU is an amazing bank. I think Ford was one that also brought intrest rates down as well.
