did not even know it was out....probably will not be seeing it.
I didn't hate the movie, but I don't think it lived up to my expectations. I had read up on it, so I knew what they had added in to make it movie-length and how they tried to portray the characters. We took Munchkin for his birthday (he turned 6) and he LOVED it.

HEard bad reviews, too. Not interested in seeing it at all.

we checked the book out from the library so that the boys would know what it was. I had never read it and none of us at my house were all that impressed with the book. It's sad though that the movie isn't any better.
AnnOminous wrote:One of the reviews I read said that is was visually stunning, but that they spent so much time on the visuals that the plot dragged and made it boring.
That's what I've heard too. However, I rarely get out to see a movie so it isn't likely I'll see this one anyway.

I have heard that it could be scary for little kids. I remember the book but was never a huge fan of the story and besides the good-looking graphics of the previews, I'm not really interested in seeing the movie. Not even for netflicking, I may wait till it is on tv and try to catch a glimpse of it before I decide to watch or not.
I've been waiting for it to come out and was disappointed to hear it was too scary for little ones.

I haven't heard anything good about it and I probably won't waste my money on it.

My DD, 26, absolutely loved it and so did everyone she attended with.
My DS, 21, didn't like it at all but his girlfriend loved it.
I never liked the book and have no desire to see it at all; there are too many other great movies out right now.
I totally agree with you about that one in particular. The book was absolutely amazing but what I had pictured in my mind was definitely NOT conveyed on screen. Now I don't read book first and then watch the movie. I either don't read the book before I see the movie, or I just never see the movie.

Last one that happened to me was The Bridges of Madison County and he's right.

I didn't like it either. I must be the only child in America that never read the book either. Kids were crying when the bird got his arm ripped off.
ETA- Heck kids were crying even before the movie started!! Glad that mom listened to her kid and left. He kept saying take me home, it's scary!

I took my almost 5 year old to see it. He bawled his face off. He wasn't scared, but he thought it was very depressing.
I just thought the movie was ok. It seemed way too "angry" for me though.

As a mom and a former librarian: the book was an award winner and my now grown kids loved it, as did my grandkids. I have heard the movie is rather "dark". I would like to see it, but will wait for it to come out on DVD.

I too wasn't impressed with any of the previews or reviews so I was going to wait until it was out on DVD to rent it for my kids.
