This is not a judgment on anyone who does this - if it makes you happy to do it, go for it. But it is a question about something I don't understand.



If your child, grandchild, mother, father, uncle or cousin in law is having a birthday but they never see this board, why would one post "Happy Birthday Cousin in Law Henry!" here ?


As I said, if it makes you happy to do so, fine. I just don't 'get it'.

This isn't the same as saying had a party for Great granny and we had fun.

Fill me in?

I'm guessing if people do it for their kids it's because we're a close bunch and it's neat to see them grow??

Well..some like to share...especially when it is their kids. I don't normally see other family mentioned, but people are constantly doing threads about their kids, which is what mom's do!


It's kinda like the so and so family member is sick with details! I don't know that those family members would appreciate their medical problems being broadcast to strangers....but that's just me. I would hate to see my medical problems on a public message board.....but I wouldn't mind someone saying it was my birthday!

I'm pretty sure that it is just a way of sharing your life and concerns with those of us who are here. Like I am going to Paris next week and I just want you all to be jealous and, whoops, I did not really mean that! I meant to say, I just want you all to be happy for me. (get it?) Just sharing and having fun... Different personalities, etc.

I dont usually get on to much anymore but some of us dont usually have too many people to talk to so I assume that by this being a close nit group they just like to have someone to share things with. Dolly
