I have the HS one and love it. I have also used the blade from my scissors and the edge of the exacto knife. Both give you great results.
Here is a LO that I did a lot of distressing on with my HS distressing tool. After I distress, I like to fold the edges up a little bit with my finger to give it even more dimension:

Yup! I used exactly that tool! I love it! But I do think I get different results using that tool versus the edge of my exacto knife, versus scissors, and I use each one in different layouts. There are also seem to be several different effects that can be gotten from each of those methods depending on how you hold them, etc. Personally, I love my tool!
