 Maybe she watched The Duggars show on tv and wanted to be like them.......

Even though the grandmother is saying that she had implanted embryos, it seems more likely that she got fertility drugs on the black market.  The drugs can't be that hard to get since puppy mill dog breeders get them and give them to the dogs.

This is exactly what I think...black market drugs or she "borrowed" them from her job.  I was pretty sure I read somewhere she worked in a fertility clinic.  No doctor worth his license implants 8 embryos.  And, she didn't show up anywhere for prenatal care until she was 3 months pregnant.  It's all very shady. 

The whole situation is rather absurd.  Six kids, lost her house, filed bankruptcy, lives with her parents, no father for the kids and she does this?  Give me a break.  Some serious mental help had better be in her near future.  (I'm guessing all of these negatives against her are the reason she wishes to remain anonymous.)

 This may sounds terrible, but that is a lot of TAX credits when it is $1000 a child.  I wish them well.  I do love watching John and Kate plus 8, and can;t imagine how anyone does 14!!!!

 This story really gets to me. Its ridiculous that she already has 6 young kids and took fertility drugs to have  8 more when she is living off her parents. I don't think she had ivf because I dont know any dr who would implant that many embryos back in. Dh and I are beginning our first ivf cycle right now and I know my dr's office would never implant that many. Its just so crazy that dh and I have been going through so much to have a family and here she is.

 Whatever happened to common sense?  Two of her original 6 children were twins, so she already had a history of multiple births.  What is even sadder is that, some of the babies more than likely will have health issues for the rest of their lives.

 I have to agree...very odd story.  I'm with Ann thinking that she got the drugs and did it herself without medical oversight.  Not sure what her motivation to do that was though!  I do find it quite amazing that she was able to stay pregnant to 31 weeks.  A friend of mine pregnant with *just* one at 31 weeks is in the hospital now because her water broke over a week ago.

 I personally wouldn't want to have eight kids at one time.  I'm amazed at the parents of multiple births because it takes tremendous strength and courage to cope with the various issues.  In my personal opinion, I don't think she should have tried for any more kids - she has 6 kids who require their mother's full attention and now she has eight more who probably will have some serious medical issues.  She made a choice to do this and now she'll just have to accept the consequences of her actions.  I think I feel the most sorry for the first six children and the eight newborns - how on earth can she be a good mother to all of them?

umm...just read an update.  She likes having kids, had a degree in early childhood development, wants to go back for her masters.  Isn't married, lives with her mom, and get's paid to have the babies.  Yahoo news.

 if she is so broke--- how could she afford a doctor to do this in the fist place??????????//  I bet she is getting a pretty penny from the government for the kids and will probably get more---- insane that this is allowed to happen especially consider all the people who want to have children and can't have even one.

I just read that they implanted less than 8...but they MULTIPLIED because of the fertility drugs in her system!!!

I have nothing against big families.  But I do have a problem with this woman trying to do this alone.  I'm a single mother...not by choice...and I only have THREE!

 We are living just fine with one child and one of the reasons I don't want another is because we would not be able to afford it.  And I don't think this single mother of 14 can afford all these children unless she gets handouts from the goverment.  The one thing I have notice about alot of people that are on food stamps and welfare is that they dress better then me and have a nicer car.  It is so nice of us tax payers to give them money so they can afford all the luxuries of life when we have to work.

 I can't even imagine having 8 at once...I had heard she plans to nurse them all...when will he have time for anything else..like raising her other children?

 Octuplets' Mom Received $165G in Disability Payments

State documents disclosed to The Associated Press that Nadya Suleman, the mother of the recently-delivered octuplets, received more than $165,000 in disability payments for an on-the-job back injury.She worked at a state mental hospital from 1997 until December when she resigned. The payments were made between 2002 and 2008, during which time Suleman gave birth to most of her six other children.Records provided to the AP following a public records request to the Department of Mental Health show that for much of that time, however, she was unable to work.
