When you are ready to do a LO.....
do you already know exactly what you want to do with you pictures or do you spend time thinking about it. I usually get stuck at the beginning, I think that is why I take so long in finishing a project. I haven't done anything for awhile. Maybe because I don't have a scraproom and I feel lazy in taking everything out from boxes in my bedroom and moving them to my kitchen table.

Re: When you are ready to do a LO.....
I wish I knew what I wanted to do, but I don't.  I spend time thinking about it and that is probably why I am so slow.  I have been using more sketches lately and that really helps.

I don't have a scrap room either.  I scrap on the table, but I keep all of my supplies there.  Could you possibly use some of your kitchen space/cabinets for your scrappy things so you wouldn't have to move them?

The little space that I have left in kitchen is used by my kids. They have their nintendo DS, some legos, papers, etc. I might have to kick their stuff out to put mine!! LOL

Re: When you are ready to do a LO.....
I always have a basic idea of pics I want to use and embellishments.  My big delima is the paper.  I love love love patterned paper, only I'm unsure how to use it wo it being too busy with all the embellies I want to use.  It usually takes me a good 30 mins plus to do a lo.

It sort of depends - sometimes I know what I want to do - other times it takes me forever to decide what to do.

When I've got my mojo going, it takes me no time. When it goes on vacation, it seems like I can't get any LO started.

I tend to start with pictures and then crop them.  once cropped I start laying them out and possibly discarding a few.  I have the hardest time with paper and then embellishments - usually the finding of coordinating stuff.

Re: When you are ready to do a LO.....
I usually know what I want to do with a picture and it comes together quickly...well, I putz and play so not so quickly.

But tonight, for example, I knew what I wanted to do, but could not find the perfect quote to go with my photo to translate my idea.  So I probably just spent 45 min writing a short 4 line poem (geesh!) - now I am too tired to pull the papers and scrap  it. :-D

It takes me a while to get started, but then I don't want to quit.  It's easier having a scrapbook room rather than having to haul it all out and put it all away.

Re: When you are ready to do a LO.....
i have a scrap room but it still takes me forever!  seems i need to find the picture.  or then i have to remember what papers i have.  scour thru the embellies and play with those.  it takes me forever to do a page.  but it's the process i enjoy too.  so i guess that's ok.  just with the inspiration would fall on me more often.

Re: When you are ready to do a LO.....
Sometimes I have some idea, but I usually try to plan several layouts at once... get photos out for 2 - 3 different things, maybe crop or maybe not yet.  Then I go through my paper / stickers / borders / embellishments binder looking for things to go with all of them.  I'm the have-to-explore-all-my-possibilities type, so this saves me time over going through everything (which is a *lot* as as I'm a CMC & hoard other stuff as well) for each individual layout.  One thing that's helped is that I have organized a lot of things by theme (season, holiday, travel, etc.) & others by color (like embellies), & have as much visible (shelves/walls) as possible! :)

Re: When you are ready to do a LO.....
To be honest, lately I have had a hard time scrapping if it wasn't for a challenge or an assignment. If you give me a challenge, I can usually figure out exactly which photos I want to use for it right away. Without it, sometimes I just stare at the photos!

That's why I like challenges so much...I'm making it my New Year's Resolution to do at least one challenge a week here from the monthly challenges.

It depends for me, sometimes they go together fast other times I can be working on the same LO all day.  It helps to look at sketches, it's kind of like having a recipe in front of me.

Re: When you are ready to do a LO.....
Here's my honest answer.  Sometimes I know exactly what I want to do.  Those pages get done right away.  Other times I have no clue and I struggle with my whole page.  I have an idea or a concept but it doesn't work.  I don't have the right products or items I think I need.  Or the overall page design isn't working for me.

You have no idea how many times I rip my whole page apart.  You can ask Leslie/lilkoala about this.  She said she is going to name me Undo because I will tear an entire page apart.

I am a slow scrapper.  I don't think any of my pages take less than an hour and I have pages that took 7-8 hours.  I would like to be quick but I can't let go and just glue stuff on a page.  I think it is some form of OCD or a control factor.

When I haven't scrapped in a while, that is when I am the slowest.  I think challenges or a sketch really help in those situations.  They kind of give me a basis to start with.  I also get inspired looking through photos and editting them or by looking through online galleries or magazines.

I hope you get your mojo back.  :-D

For the most part I plan my layouts first, then scrapbook. I have a scrapbook studio, so that helps. I remember when I scrapbooked on the dining room table, it was such a chore as you've already stated.
