I actually "branched out" pardon the pun and bought an artificial and it is strictly red, white and blue patriotic stuff...I love LOTS and LOtS of lights! The tree isn't packed but balanced...then we have a HUGE cut tree that has the "family" ornaments, the stars and snowflakes made of paper that the kids have made (They get a "special" ornament from me every year too) It is ever increasing by four or five every year

We have lots of lights and ornaments. Over our 30 years of marriage, we've collected more ornaments than I can put on one tree, so I go through and get out the ones I like the most. We don't have a theme for our tree. It's got some ornaments I had as a child, homemade ornaments given to us as gifts, some Hallmark collections (owls, lighthouses, my son's trains, Harleys etc.), ceramic ornaments I made and painted and some crystal ornaments. There's a whole hodge podge of things but we love it! I too love to turn off the lights and just have the tree on.

I have a lot of ornaments. They all have meaning, or were given to me by others for my bridal shower. I can only imagine what it's going to look like years down the road. I may need another tree. lol. Not to mention this year we are adding baby's first christmas ornaments and I already have 2 of those ornaments - can't buy just one...
