Christmas trees
Since there was a topic of who has their trees up yet I figured I would ask.

Do you all do themes for your tress? If so what are they? Is it something different every year or do you do traditional?
TIA

We don´t have a theme and we don´t get the three up before the 23rd of December. But we use all the old stuff from when we were kids and ad something new each year. It won´t be very estetique but it will be ours ;) and I can´t wait :-D

Re: Christmas trees
Starting in my teens my parents used to put up 2 trees.  One family tree and one that I could decorate.  'I liked the more grown-up trees.'  Then when I moved in with dh I decorated our tree in blue and white with pearls as the garland.  Now we have 2 kids, and the tree is just whatever.  A whole mish-mash of ornaments...but I still have my pearls! :-D

Last year I bought myself a little artificial white tree that I decorate with pink ornaments. :inlove:

Re: Christmas trees
Our tree is not a theme per se....but rather a "memory tree"...each ornament has some history behind it....mostly items are for my dd.  I laugh and say it is a Heidi tree because most all ornaments stem from something of her. lol

Re: Christmas trees
I have a small purple tree for our bedroom and then we put up a real tree in the living room.  It has burgundy and gold garland with a mixture of lights and ornaments.  We will always have a real tree at least while the girls are home.  My favorite Christmas memory was going to pick out the tree with my daddy and I "encouraged" DH to keep up that tradition with our girls.  It means even more to me that they go every year since my dad has been gone for 5 years now.

I have a little pre-lit topiary that I will use as my hockey tree. Now that I have a bigger one, that will be the anything goes tree!

Re: Christmas trees
Well the 4 foot tree in the sunroom is my nature or rustic tree with alot of wood ornaments and raffia and fake cranberry and fruit garland.
The one in the family room is traditional with alot of glass ornaments and red beaded garland and xmas picks or sprays inserted into the branches.  Then I have a red and white small tree in the dining room window and a small tree on my buffet counter with angels this year.
I may do a few miniature trees in the office and guest room.

Re: Christmas trees
I was wondering how to tell you about our tree, then I read "No1Mommy " entry. She said it all a " Memory Tree"
I have both of the kids oranments they made in kindergarden. Each year I add a new one for each one of them Until last year. They said the tree was to full. It seems ever oranment has special meaning to us. I am a big sap at Christmas. lol :-D

Re: Christmas trees
About 90% of my tree are glass ornaments.  There is no special theme, just ornaments that I like.

Re: Christmas trees
i've mentioned mine in the previous thread as well...

i've always liked the primitive style --- strung up popcorn
with cranberries (i torture myself doing this, lol) and we
use baked gingerbread ornaments only tied w/ homespun
which makes it smell sooo SO good enough to eat, yum!!

we don't buy ornaments or fake trees (only real) because
it's more organic that way and it all gets wrapped in the
cello it came with & straight to the recycle after NY's :)

Re: Christmas trees
no particular theme.  just eclectic.  But since I do collect John Deere tractor stuff, I have about 14 John Deere ornaments that go on my tree each year.  And I used to love the satin ornaments (they called them onionskins) and have quite a lot from years gone bye that I like to fill small decorating sleds with and place around the living room.
I am a serious over decorator - so that is probably why my style is eclectic at best.

Re: Christmas trees
When I was growing up we had a fake aluminum tree and mom would make us put up tinsel.  After christmas was over we had to take it down and the worst part was she would make me in charge of the tinsel.  Taking down strand by strand to save it for the following year!  Gagging at the thought of tinsel!!!!! :winkb: :winkb: :winkb: :winkb:

When I got married I said "no fake trees  for us"  every year I put up a big fresh tree in the front room, multi-colored lights and all kinds of ornaments.  Some we bought, some kids made and some that we have received over the years.  I also buy a small tree that sits on a small table that I decorate with only Santas.   And no tinsel anywhere!!!!!!  I abhore the stuff!!!!! :x :x :x :x

I LOVE LOVE LOVE TINSEL!!!  Just can't have a tree without it.  It sparkles so beautifully in the glow of the lights.  And I save it too cause it's gold and you can't find gold some years.  However, I don't make my kids take it off.  :greenwinkb:

Re: Christmas trees
Unfortunatly, we have a fake tree. We live in an area where it is close to $100 for a real one, and its not possible for us, so I finally gave in, and we got a VERY real looking fake tree. And, its decorated with memories. I have most of my ornaments from childhood, and then we get each kid an ornament every year, and each other too. We have a ton of lovely wood bead ornaments that a little girl made us for our wedding, and I love putting those up! And its fun to remember where each thing came from, or when the kdis made such and so when we are decorating! Cant wait to get it up this weekend after Thanksgiving!

Our main tree in the living room is a real tree done in red, white and blue all patriotic decor, in the family room I have a smaller tree all done in a nautical tree, then in my coca-cola room I have a small tree all in coca-cola ornaments.

No themes here - both our trees are very much mix and match!   We have a real one in the living room and a fake one down in the family room.

Re: Christmas trees
No theme tree for me... I have a whole mish-mash of ornaments from handmade to cute and sentimental store bought ones.  My tree is very colorful and fun to look at.  Try not to have to many delicate/breakable ornaments since the cats like to play hide and seek under the tree and occasionally knock the ornaments off...  :)
