 My mom sent me a link to Rosie O'Donnell's blog, because her friend's friend Eve Ensler had a post on there about Sarah Palin. I mostly stay away from the political stuff (it hurts my head!) but I thought this an interesting perspective.

Ditto. I think that the original link was a little overdramatized, and used facts to draw conclusions that may not necessarily follow from the facts. However, I have to say that when I first heard that McCain had picked a woman I was really excited. I am a Democrat but a feminist, and I thought - "cool! so even though Hillary is out of it, we still might have a woman in the white house." Then I learned more about her and it just feels like an underhanded trick. I hate to think that there are women out there who are going to vote for her because she is a woman.

 I won't vote for her because she is a woman, but I might vote for her because I am basically a Republican.  I don't necessarily agree with all her beliefs, but I agree with more of them than I do Obama's...  Plus, I don't believe he will be able to change much and he might just do more harm than good.  To tell the truth, I don't think there is a good choice for candidate, mainly because those who would be a good choice are in their right minds and they won't run because they don't want that job!

I read the blog and it is a very biased view...just as those who are already for McCain/Palin have a biased view.  I try to read only facts and avoid what everyone else thinks as much as possible.

I am voting for the McCain/Palin ticket, not because I am a woman but because the basic principles of the candidates closely match my principles. I found that blog to be overly dramatic, the fallout will be so great that America will never recover in some areas?? Come on! I am sure there are women who are voting for the McCain ticket because she is a woman but I don't think that means they are uneducated. I consider myself a strong educated woman and I agree with alot that Sarah Palin stands for. I realize people (meaning the blog writer)  have opinions but sometimes they take it too far.And that goes for both sides. I would never dream of saying horrible things about a candidate just because I disagree with their platform.

 Ha. . . another reason for me to dislike Rosie O'Donnell. 

I'm still supportive of Palin.  I don't agree with some of her thinking (her opinion on sex education and abortion come immediately to mind), but when comparing Obama/Biden to McCain/Palin there is absolutely no contest in my opinion.  The more I find out about Palin, the more convinced I am that she'll make a darn fine VP and President should the need arise.

 Ugh i'm so frustrated with politics in general. I think Obama is a good person, but I don't feel like he is really talking about the issues at all through this whole thing. I didn't used to like Mccain, but I think he is really changed in the last year and has let us see more of him in a personal light. He was brilliant to pick Palin as his VP. It is time for a woman to come and she is EXTREMELY qualified for this job. I wish  she was the one running for president and had mccain as VP. Obama has little experience to become president of the country. Honestly, I wish someone could list 5 things he has really accomplished besides helping people vote in elections in the past. No one on tv or anywhere I have read about him can come up with 2 things let alone 5. Mccain and Palin know what they are doing. I also haven't seen obama's VP really talk at all. He just seems very quiet in this whole thing at least on tv. I am disappointed in his VP choice.

Anyway I don't know alot about politics to give more informative opinions, but this is just how I see things right now.  I
just don't think there is a strong enough team for the democrats to win this year compared to the republicans.

I don't think its unfortunate.  While there are some things I don't agree with, I see nothing wrong with her character and who she is.  I too grew up in the wilderness.  We went hunting.  My grandfather was a hunter and fisherman for a living.  I own a gun, and if I loved in snow I would snow mobile.  To think that someone doesn't believe in evolution doesn't make them a femenist is scares the hell out of me.  The fact that she deosn't believe in global warming does not make her a bad person.  In all actuallity, they can't prove that humans have caused global warming.  There was a period after the Ice Age that statistically is just like the period we are going through today.  Although I will agree that humans may be helping it along.  And this quote..."She does not believe women who are raped and incested and
ripped open against their will should have a right to determine whether
they have their rapist's baby or not.??" she never said that I know of.  I watched her interviews and what I understood is that this is the only time she believes in it and of course when the mom is in danger.  I could go on and on about this stupid bit of information some idiot person decided to write for a little bit of fame.  What is seriously unfortunate is that people like us give it attention.  Thats all this Eve character wanted anyway.

Oh and I HATE Rosie O'Donnell.  Did I mention HATE her?  I think she is the epitome of idiot who uses her star status to flap off at the mouth about crap she knows nothing about.  Its sad really.



Sorry for being harsh.  I am very much for someone having their own opinion.  However when someone takes a fact and twists it to suit them and come up with a contorted opinion based on falsehoods, it makes me crazy.  Don't believe anything in this stupid postby Eve.  Go straight to the sources and find out about these people yourselves.

 Just because we all fall under the classification of "women" or "feminist" does not mean we are all the same in our perspectives. I take great offense to the article and to those who claim we are not "educated" if we like the opposition. This election season is interesting, because there is no clear cut winner.  This means surfing through the slander and digging into the facts. Right now, I have seen very little substance from both parties and I am looking forward to the debate.  We are in tough economic times and whether a woman hunts or wears lipstick doesn't mean a thing to me.  I want someone who can hold up under the pressures that are ahead.  With that said...I am confident McCain knows pressure and how to make decisions during critical times. As for Palin, I dare anyone of you to speak in front of thousands of people and keep your cool, and on top of that WOW the public.

 I am a supporter of Hillary Clinton's who has made the choice to vote for McCain, not just because he chose a woman for his running mate but because there is a woman on the ticket and I have to ask "why not?"

White males didn't vote for Hillary Clinton en masse because she was a woman.
Black males are voting en masse for Barrack Obama because he is the first African American to get the Presidential nomination.

In socioligical studies men of any race and of voting age, in general, would rather have a white male, a black male, a younger black woman before an older white woman in any elected office. That is discrimination.

So I, as an older middle aged, middle class woman will be standing with my sister whenever there is one on the ticket. I didn't do it the first time and I regret it. That is feminism.

I'm more than one issue. I, as a woman, am about more than the abortion issue.

I know what McCain's stance is on the environment and I know what Obama's is and frankly I think we will be better off in the long run with McCain's plan of nuclear energy than the pie-in-the-sky plans that Obama has.

Regardless of one's political pursuasion, however, it is belittling to assume that just because someone does not agree with a political party's planks that that person is uneducated, weak or ill-informed. Statements like that say more about the one making the statements rather than the other way around.
