Finding the time to scrap....
 Hi
Just wanted to know how you find the time to scrap. I have my stuff laid out on the table and its been there all year and I've done 0 pages.  I'm really hoping to find sometime this weekend to scrap. I have a lunch tomorrow with colleaques, carnival tomorrow with DS, Bbque with friends Sunday and Monday. In addtion, need to do laundry, get groceries, get DS and my stuff ready for the week.

I'm hoping to at least get a page or two glued down today. I'm going to hit the gallery now and get some inpiration to finish my 2005 Vacation pics.

I neglect all my other household duties!  LOL!

Seriously, I try to make time every week for at least an hour...I figure I deserve that much.

It isn't easy that's for sure!  But I try to do a little here and there... Like one night I may pick out the next pics I want to do, the next night pick out papers and start laying out the page, etc...  If I waited until I had TONS of time, I'd never sb!  I also challenge myself to do so many pages a month.  So far this year I have done 73 pages by pushing myself to do more than I did last year.  The scrap a day challenge on this board is also fun!

Re: Finding the time to scrap....
I try to scrap when the kids are at school, but I haven't been home as much to do that, so I try at night, but am tired from the day and watch some good television shows or read instead.  I think I'm getting a layout done every other week.   Lately, I feel like my scrapbooking mojo is on vacation, but I still end up buying stuff, lol!

Well, usually, if I'm sitting down to watch TV, I'm scrapping. Unless I am WIPED OUT from the day, I like to scrap while watching with my dh. It keeps me from snoring in his ear!

I do it on weekends while my dd is taking a nap and some weeknights after she goes to bed, too. Last night I flipped throught the Page Maps book during the commericals on Grey's and picked out some pp.

a minute here, a minute there...evenually something will get done!  :)  It also helps if I stay off the computer.  :)

Laura,
I get on the computer while we watch tv...that's what keeps me from snoring in my dh's ear...usually (I've been known to fall asleep w/my laptop on my lap)

I try to set aside as least half an hour each day, on days I am off from work I scrap for longer.

I scrap with my kids.  I call it "bonding"...at least that is the story I am telling their therapists in a couple years :winkb:

Re: Finding the time to scrap....
 great idea, Pam

I firgure if Laura can find the time in her busy schedule, then I surey can find a few minutes here and there.  And that is all it is, a few minutes here and there.  Last night I sat down to start getting another page started and found Isabella hair mixed in the pile of stuff I left on the table.  That got me down, then guilty cause I need to clean.  Needless to say, I didn't get to scrapping.  Such is life....

About once a month I schedule some time in with Jenna.  If I don't schedule it in, it doesn't happen much at all.  Our kids entertain each other or we go elsewhere and leave the kids with our DHs.

Re: Finding the time to scrap....
I get together with other friends that have kids so that our kids will play while we scrap.  (Heidi is one of them!).  If I don't do that, it's after the girls go to bed (which in our house is by 8pm during the school year) or I ignore all my other duties and just do it.  I figure the laundry and dishes will still be there.

Re: Finding the time to scrap....
I didn't get a chance to do anything today, I decided each night that I was going to at least layout a page at night and try to finish it the next night, that's the only way I could get anything done.

Thanks for all the feedback.

Re: Finding the time to scrap....
seriously, i have a problem finding time lately.   for 5 years i taught sb and was the dt moderator for the lss and was on a dt for a website.  it seems i scrapped everyday.  now, with no deadlines, it seems i don't make time.  honestly housework took a backseat to my creative time.  i figure when i'm gone no one will remember my clean house but they will remember my scrapbooks.  and i hate housework so if i have to choose one of the two i chose sbing.  this year i've had two grown kids move home, planning a wedding, just found out my dd is expecting, and have my grandsons here a lot so it just seems like life gets in the way.  perhaps i should get a new "gig" with deadlines to put me back in my mojo to scrap more.

Re: Finding the time to scrap....
I'm fortunate in that Bud helps with the housework.

Does he do it the way I would?  No.  But I've learned to live with that.

There is just the two of us so that makes a big difference.

I also go scrap while he watches the news.   SOmetimes I sit upstairs and watch with him but sometimes I'm downstairs.

Sunday afternoons I do laundry and scrap.    I send him off to hte Legion to watch whatever is on and to hang out with his buddies.    Does us both some good.

Re: Finding the time to scrap....
I neglect the housework, don't watch TV and only scrap on weekends. I try to set aside probably 4 hours per weekend for me to scrap. I need that much time alone or I go crazy!

we have a cleaning person in every other week to do the heavy cleaning, and DH helps. We eat more takeout than we should.

I work 50+ hours a week, so finding 4 hours to myself per week is a bit of a feat but I look at it as a necessity.
