Wendy and Kathy...If you click on "recent topics" it will open a whole new window...it actually lists ALL TOPICS, even ones in the User Forums. If it has a little square by the icon, that means there are new posts since the last time you were there... you can click that little square and it will take you to the first post you have not read... no need to hit the back button or refresh. Clicking "recent topics" works as a refresh.
And for the speed, disable all of the blinkies.

I've read references to all the "cool/great/wonderful/etc etc etc features this new board has, but I am completely clueless about them all. As I said earlier, I have little time to spend here and so this is very overwhelming and confusing to me, especially since TODAY is the first I've seen this place. On the "old board" I read references to the "new" board, but there was no link posted, so I figured it was just for select people to go and try out. I stayed in my old world until I clicked on ACOT today and found myself on the other side of the looking glass.............

You know what? I have to say that I am really disappointed everytime I come on the board and see all of these negative comments about the new board!! Come on ladies, look around. You guys complain about the board and how slow it is....etc..... I do believe that Brandon is still working on it and moving threads. Don't you think that is going to make it slower? Really? And another thing ACOT was kind enough to offer points for our posts, how cool is that?? And yet I still see complaining, sad really. Just think about how it makes Kristin, the ACOT workers, Brandon and even the CT feel when we all read your comments. Yes the board is different and it does take some getting used too but do it or nicely keep quiet.

I think this new board is nice. Having a little bit of difficulty finding my way around but, well, lets face it - I'm a few sandwiches short of a picnic when it comes to the internet. I still love that it is ACOT and that all you gals are here!!

Great attitude to have! It will take us all sometime to get used to the new board but hey it's that way for anything new!

I don't think anyone means to be unkind or critical; at least I don't. It's just that it's very different and it will take a while to find our way (or I should say "my way") around this. I'm sure there are nice features, and I'll find them eventually.

I did go and turn off the smilies in my settings but they still show up. That tells me there are probably some kinks yet to be resolved.

I agree that it is startling at first but once you figure out your way around it really is pretty cool! I got used to it pretty quickly and I am giving it .

I don't think she was talking to YOU Kathy, or to others like you who are voicing their concerns and questions in a positive way. I think she meant negativity. The way you are posting is not necessarily negative in the way it comes off. As always, you are being polite and adult in how you say things. Others, as you have no doubt seen, are not.

Come on ladies, change is good!!! You can do so many fun things with this new board!

Maybe a demonstration, or at least a listing of all the new and fun features would be helpful. I'm clueless. But at least I now have a means to go back to the "all topics" that I was accustomed to using, thanks to a helpful person on here. So.......show us these new/cool features!

Kathy, Moody is right I was not talking to you. I was just saying about the comments that came right and said "that this new board sucks"......etc. I understand that we are all going to have questions and I really like how there are some ladies on the board that are stepping up and helping others learn how to use the board!

Yes, thank you. I have been to that topic. Found it to be explanatory regarding somethings, but didn't really notice anything cool/new/wowser in there. Is there a topic about the new/cool/"exciting" features that are rumored to be here?

For example.........I went into the listing of the members here. I thought I'd look for myself. I couldn't find me! Surely I'm a member! There was no search and the names aren't listed alphabetically. So........I was confused there. I thought the listing was going to be helpful and user-friendly. I"m sure it is, but I don't know how to access that feature.

But don't mind me. It's late; I should be in bed. And......it's Monday. Probably when I get back from vacation in a couple of weeks, all will be smoothed out and there'll be lists of cool features and links to all the instruction anyone could ever need. I'll just be patient.

hmm.....I did try that and it just sat there, unmoving. Maybe that's part of the "issues" we're experiencing, part of the change-over growing pains. Like you couldn't use the quote feature with Firefox but I have no problem. Quirks.........
