letumom aka Laurie!
Here is some more information about her!
I have been scrapping in some form or another since I was 10. My first scrapbook was to memorialize a hospital stay for appendicitis. I really think my mom got me the book and supplies just to keep me busy. I didn't do another book until I was pregnant with my first daughter back in the early 80's. There were 2 (one before her birth and one after) and were done in 3 ring binders on black construction paper, with lots of rainbow stickers for embellishments.
I went almost 20 years before I created another scrapbook. That one was digital, and I used Microsoft Publisher to journal about a house we were building. I added pictures, and clip art to the pages in Publisher, then printed them to put in a 3 ring binder. Fast forward another 10 years, and I came full circle when I was ready to scrap a cruise. I asked my daughter for some help this time, and she introduced me to Bo Bunny and Cricut and 12x12 albums, and .... the Local Scrapbook Store. Oh My! I can officially say I'm addicted to scrapbooking this time.
Back in May, 2009, I was moving from total paper scrapping to dabbling in digi, and needed some direction. I was a regular on another forum where Megan (Megamy) was on the CT; she invited me to check out ACOT. The next month she was the guest CT member at ACOT! And the rest is history; I joined ACOT and never looked back. I've tried out other sites, but keep coming back to ACOT. The challenges have been great inspiration, and I love shopping here, both for digital and paper supplies. About the same time I found ACOT I was introduced to card making as well. These days when I can squeeze in the time, I use my paper supplies for cards destined overseas to Operation Write Home.
I currently live in Houston, but my family home is San Antonio, Texas. I'm a military brat, born in Germany, and attended 8 schools before I got to high school. Thankfully, my dad retired the year I started high school, so I was able to finish at the same school.
For the past 15 + years or so, I've been working in the Construction Industry as a business process and software implementation specialist. My current company has clients in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, so I travel a lot !!! Sometimes I'm home less than 24 hours before I'm off again on a new business trip. I love what a do in my position, as I help folks envision a different or improved method for their routine processes in order to get the information they need from their software. My work involves teaching, which is not really a surprise, as that's what I wanted to be when I grew up. But as a teen, I wanted to work with kids. Now I say that I work with grown-up kids, who can sometimes be just as challenging and demanding.
I'm single and I claim 5 dd's. Two by birth, two are steps, and one I adopted into my heart a couple of years ago. Between them, I get to claim 8 grandkids, ranging in age from 22 down to 2 years. The youngest is the only girl, so far, anyway. There is a new little one coming in February, and we are "planning" on a girl.
Here is one of her gorgeous layouts!
Congrats! Have fun, Laurie! I always LOVE your layouts!
