White Space AND Journaling?

Does anyone here scrap using a lot of white space *and* journals on their pages? I've made a resolution to myself that I WILL journal on my pages from now on, but I'm not sure how to combine the two ideas. So who has a gallery I can steal ideas, *ahem* get inspiration from? :-D

Leslie does a LOT of journaling, but she' doesn't do the white space thing. If I run across some good examples, I'll let you know. There are a lot of white space LO's in the gallery, but they normally don't have much journaling, if any.

That would be my gallery. **blush** I do white space but never have journaling. I did one yesterday with a lot of journaling. (Cassie is going to faint when she sees it, lol!) Anyway, I want to put more writing on them, but not sure how to incorporate them into the designs. The one I did yesterday was 'ok'. I like it mainly for the journaling, but I'd like to make them pretty too though.

Tracy I have some. Well, they don't have TONS of white space but journaling is hard for me too so I have a few.

Jenn! That black one is stunning!! I love it! :inlove:

Thanks for sharing with me. It's going to be really different trying to get journaling on my layouts. Just when I'd found my 'style' too. Plus I've always found it awkward to journal in the first place. I never know, should I be writing to the kids, writing to myself, writing to a 3rd person?

I need to resist the temptation to go back to the old ones and re-do them. Maybe I'll just scrap the same pics again? I have all these lofty little goals for myself and no where-with-all to scrap right now. :waiting:

One rule of journaling I try to use, is that if the person looking at the page doesn't know anything about the photos, what would I want them to know? Of course we're usually scrapping more for family than strangers, lol, but your grandchildren, nieces & nephews will be 'strangers' of a sort to your life. When in doubt, write more! ;)

Tracy I was never one to journal either, but the Cherries here have turned me into a lean, mean, journaling machine. Write what you feel. I scrap a lot about my granddaughter and I'll usually journal "about" Maddie. It might about how she made me feel or how much fun she was having doing something. Same with my pages about my dog. I am scrapping a paper album about my grandmother that I am going to give my mom as a gift, and it would never have told her story if I scrapped it without all the journaling. I just started talking about what a wonderful woman she was and how much we all loved her, and then started telling her story and it all fell into place. I am going to do a page at the end about me (her first grandchild) being the one doing the album and how special she was to me. It is coming out so much better than I ever expected because it is not just pictures but it is telling her story.

My journaling pages aren't really white space pages. I guess the closest thing I have to a white space page with journaling is this one...

I've seen your awesome white space pages and you can easily incorporate some journaling into your style. Under the pic, along the side, or on a journaling mat up in a corner. Across the bottom. Just some ideas for you.

That page is too darn cute!! She's a little sweetie.

Thanks for the ideas, I was poking around some other galleries and I saw a bunch of gals who did just what you were saying as far as placement.

Look at page 5 of my gallery. My little apple dumpling is right, I don't do whitespace very often, but I did on a couple of the layouts on page 5. I'd link them here but I can't figure out how to do that on the mac at work!

Barb (pawprints) I was just looking at your gallery. The pages for your Grandmother book are just lovely! The powder blues are so pretty. And I love your black dog!! He's got a sweet face. The peanut butter layout cracked me up!

Thanks Tracy Lou!!! I will admit it is one of my favorites! :-D

I find it very difficult to journal myself. I too am always confused as to how it should be worded and to whom I am writing. Doing the journaling challenge now requires me to think outside the box a bit so I am thankful for that.

I don't do a bunch with white space, but I always try to include journaling. I have found some great templates with this combo, too.

Here is one:

and here's another I did with templates:

and here is one I came up with myself, with the journaling as a border around the outside.
