I have noticed lately that there have been several threads started in forum about getting started in digital scrap booking. So, I thought I would take a few minutes, create a post with the essential links around our site to aid in that.
Here at ACOT, we have some awesome ladies on the digi CT and they have created some fantastic tutorials. Below are a few that may help in getting you started.

Digital Scrapbooking
(from a Paper Perspective)
Now, you will need "supplies" to use in your layout. Well, lucky for you ACOT has several free items that can get you started. Follow this link to them. Once you have figured this all out, you can go to the digi-store and buy some FANTASTIC products designed by our incredible designers.
There are several free trial versions of software you can use to get you started; two of the most popular are Photoshop Elements and GIMP
Good luck everyone and happy scrapping!!
Thank you so much! I have tried digi a couple of times but was so clueless that I gave up. I am anxious to try it again.
Thank you for the information. I am interested in digital, but I'm not having any luck. I am not giving up. These tutorials should help. Now, I just have to get the program for digital.

You rock!!! This is awesome and should definately help out newbie digital scrapbookers.
Great IDEA!!! Would of loved to find a thread like this when i first started digi scrapping!
What an awesome post, so cool for you to take the time to put this together. I know I've learned lots from the tutorials here at ACOT and I refer back to them if I want to use a technique I learned here but don't use very often. I hope more people check them out.
this is a great thread....but i "refuse" to give up my print outs!

You are my new BFF! I told myself I was going to make myself proficient in digi and so last Sunday afternoon, I downloaded a trial copy of PSE. By 8:00 that evening I was in TEARS because I felt to stupid and inept--I couldn't get it to do ANYTHING I wanted! My DH felt to bad, he went online and surprise ordered me a how-to book that comes with video lessons but until then, I am just puttering around and very unhappy with my efforts. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER!!!!!

A great way to get started is using ACOT's new ScrapHD Application! It's drag and drop easy and gives you the ability to create beautiful layouts simply! You can get started for free and upgrade to a Club Membership once you decide you like it. Just go to the digital section on ACOT and choose Create a Scrapbook.
Make sure to choose A Cherry on Top as your retailer when you create an account on ScrapHD!
Thanks! Between Sandy (WriterLady) and these tutorials, I should be able to figure it out.

Fyi, a correction/clarification to the original post: GIMP is totally free software, not one with different free-trial/pay-full versions! It's a bit complicated but there are tutorials available (on other sites). And it can do a lot!
