What are they? Are they like stickers or diecuts for paper scrapping? Sorry if this sounds confusing!

The best way I know how to describe them is their kinda like rub-ons for paper.

I like to think of them like rubber stamps. The key in digi is to make a new layer prior to "stamping" your digital brush. That way you can use it to it's fullest potential--such as resizing and recoloring as needed.

Digital brushes are simply the shape that your paint brush, eraser, pencil, and air brush can take. You can do a lot with the brushes!! Eg. you can use it like a stamp; you can use them to make overlays; you can use them to make a masking element. And those are just a few of the things you can do.

yep -- they are akin to a rubber stamp -- and making a new layer before your *brush or stamp* with it will allow you to do as everyone said.. then there are layer styles -- you could for instance make a brush into a piece of gold, or silver or glitter -- i love brushes

no way, sister LOL!! for the way you want to use them it is EASY PEASY:
let's say you have a background paper opened and you want to "STAMP" on it, or you have a photo you want to "STAMP" on -- (replace the word STAMP with BRUSH) -- make a new layer and go to your tool palette and choose BRUSH -- pick the color you want the BRUSH to be and you literally STAMP that BRUSH onto the paper (or photo, or frame, or both, or everything!)!
Does that make it easier? oooh I LOVE BRUSHES and want you to also
!!
