I have never used/do not own a diecut machine. From what I understand they are a good investment, but I can't afford a super expensive one. Also I don't know which ones are good. Any recommendations? I particularly want alphabet in multi sizes and font, and perhaps shapes like teddy bears and whatnot. Thanks!

Well I have htem all and right now the cricut is my fav.Sizzix is cheaper in one way, except you have to buy each font, and you have to lug it around and it is heavy.... But you can use your coupons on it at Michaels and Joannes.I think they are all expensive. I know I am of no help.The wishblade you can do about anything IF you understand it and are computer savvy, apparently, I am not....Oh and welcome!

so the cricut comes with all kinds of fonts/shapes??

Mine came with two fonts but I can cut them in many, many sizes. I haven't been able to save up for any of the cartridges that have the shapes on them yet....for that I still use my sizzix.

Mind you, I'm not a paper scrapper anymore, *but* I have a Cuttlebug Die Cutter. I like it because you can use the cartridges from ANY machine. I used my Quitcutz ones, a Sizzix one, and the Cuttlebug ones are thin and pretty portable imho.Plus I got it for really cheap at Michaels. Not on sale either!

I bought the original Sizzix machine and the fun serif lettering.  Over time I have bought dies for it when I can get a bargain, but have not been able to find another set of alphas, I would like a second set to choose from.  Its bulky, and it never leaves the house (all in the carry case but weighs ore than me), but I would not trade it for the world!

I had the Sizzix and did not use it very much...was very portable and is pretty bulky and heavy...but I do have a Cricut and until recently I only had 2 cartridges {George, one that comes with it and Walk in The Garden} and I reall ylike the George one...I just bought the Paper Dolls Cricut and The Accent Essentials...here is Cricut's Website if you want to check out what they offer as far as cartridges go...you can find the cartridges cheaper at other places {sometimes Michaels and JoAnns has them on sale or you can buy them on ebay}...here is the website I bought the Paper Dolls  and Locker Talk Cartridges from and their customer service and S&H was excellent!

I have the Sizzix regular one and I like it a lot. I originally bought it to do alphas but I find I use it more for shapes (squares, circles, hearts, stars etc.). I like it because you can cut chipboard, balsa wood, fabric, foam, felt etc. with it. I wish I'd waited just a little bit, though, and got the Sizzix Big Shot. I really like the dies they have for that.

I just have the small quikutz. I like it for alphas; i've thought about the larger ones but for now I'll stick with this and just buy my other embellies. 

I have the sizzix and I really like it.  I've got several dies for it that I've gotten over the years.Also, my mom has a cricut and I can use that any time since she lives in an apartment downstairs from me.  And, I like that as well.  I actually use them both equally.

I have the quickutz squeeze and the quickutz silhouette.  LOVE them both.

I think there are a lot of great options out there.  You really have to consider how much you want to spend, how much storage you have, and if it's something that you are going to continue buying more pieces for.I love the cricut.  I also have had the sizzix for years but it just has always been such a hastle to pull out and set up.  I've barely used it ever.  I should sell it.  LOL!  The newer versions are soooo much better.  And I'm not sure if anyone posted this but coming up this summer, Making Memories is coming out with one called the slice.  It's nice and small.  I like that.

i love both my sizzix and cricut...but cricut is so super easy and one alphabet for cricut is waaayyy cheaper than sizzix ones and you can cut them into any size.  the only drawback is that they don't cut chipboard, but i love the flexibility of the cricut. in the long run cricut is way cheaper because you don't have to buy all the dies individually you get a big set for way cheaper.  i just got the animal one on ebay for $30...bid at night for cheaper prices...late night

So Cricut or silhouette?  I am trying to decide on this?  Anyone have an opinion? 

I have the Cricut machine and absolutely love it!! I had a Sizzix before and sold it shortly after I got my Cricut ...I love the fact that each alpha comes with different options - and the fact you can change the size!

I have a Xyron Personal Cutter and I LOVE IT!  It cuts out fonts and shapes in 3 different sizes and the smallest size is still pretty big.  I cut most of my fonts in small.  I guess the largest size is about 4" high since the paper has to be cut down to 4x4 to fit into the cutting mat.  I really like it. I have almost ALL the books. The shapes are pretty fun to use, baby, wedding, sports, vacation, etc. Now, I just got a Cricut Expression for my birthday and it seems to be lots of fun!  I haven't played with it yet, but can't wait to do so.  Not sure if this is allowed, but I'm going to be selling my Xyron with all the books, 10 of them, if you are interested you can PM me and we'll talk.  

I hade the sizzix for years. but i sold them all to get the cricut. I love it. I sold it to get the expressions cricut and I just love that love that too.I can now hook it to my computer which makes it even better.

I had the cricut but sold it, I couldnt see spending the money on more carts. I had already had like 8. I sold it and bought the Silhouette(named him simon ). The silhouette has been the best thing ever. I can use any font I have and make any shape i want. You can trace pictures into files to cut. Its not huge and its fairly easy to use. I was cutting stuff with it the first day. I'm really blonde and ditzy so if I can do, anyone can! There are tutorials and everything out there. I think its up to you. But I just didnt like spending that much. Misewell buy something more expensive.

I have a friend who wants to sell her gently used little cricut so she can buy the big one.

I have a Sizzix, QK, Cricut and Silhouette. If I had to choose one...I would probably keep the Sizzix. Shocked, huh?!? The Sizzix can cut paper, fabric, chipboard and much more!!! It's cheap and doesn't require electricity, computers or fancy software. In the beginning their die choices were very limited, but they have really expanded.
