Progress report and some fun....
Today I make and sew the binding! It's a Christmas miracle! (seriously.... if you knew me and projects   )

And now I present... quilting life....

Image

YEP. And you wonder every time how you missed that you weren't stitching anything for 6 - 12 inches. :wtf:

Image

Or anyone who sews.  I was actually just thinking yesterday (when it ran out yet again) why aren't machines designed to just put in a second spool of thread for the bobbin thread?

This one speaks for itself....

Image

As a perfectionist (but not enough to rip and redo and large section  :wtf:  just be very aggravated about it) I need this constant reminder....

Image

I LEAVE YOU WITH THIS....

LOL! I can relate....a little bit! I'm only a small beginner sewer, but that bobbin thing irritates me! I have a Viking.

Re: Progress report and some fun....
Oh my, Tam, every one of these are amazing! So delightful. I will have to print out the "Oh Brother" one because there are two embroidery machines on the table - one my dd and I bought to share (Janome) and the other she bought herself (Brother) since she couldn't get the Janome to do right for her (I have no trouble with it, btw). I use the Janome and she the Brother - and we are happy!
And just last night using my Bernina to finish up a set of pillowcases I noticed after several inches my bobbin had emptied!  😆
Thanks for sharing these.

Yea, so fun to read these.  It has been years since I quilted so I can laugh at these!  Thanks for sharing smiles, today.

I'm not a beginner but I'm not sure I've passed into the next level yet.  :greenwinkb:
I have a 12 stitch Kenmore circa 1991. I don't sew enough to justify another machine, especially anything that's hundreds, and I'm used to this one and how it works. I'll just dream about having more throat space.

thank you for the great post!  They are hilarious, I don’t quilt and only randomly sew, but I get it.  Merry Christmas, Tam!

The seam ripper had me howling. I think my face actually looks like that while I'm grumbling and ripping.

I am a Janome girl!
One of the projects for this Christmas was a set of placemats, cloth napkins and a table runner for my DD(20).  I researched her favorite artists albums and planned to make the placemats look like the albums/vinyl/record.  They aren't all black anymore!  I bought a free motion quilting foot for my home machine since I had gauged that this was a small project and my machine could handle it.  I was SO excited to bring this to reality.  I know it was something that she would love and a fun way to marry her love of her music and cooking/tablescapes.
Notice the past tense?  I have to hold off on this for a bit.  I can not accept a learning curve at the moment.  And time is running out.  I will be gifting her the raw materials and the idea.
I am almost done latch-hooking a bedside rug for the grandbaby though.  It is fuzzy and soft and feels so good to sink your feet into.

Tam, these are so funny! And exactly why I don’t like sewing!!! I’ll occasionally hand sew on a layout but that’s it!!! Glad you’re almost done with your quilt!!!

Yeah, I don't like learning new tricks. 😄

I read online before you can tell who the manufacturer of your Kenmore is by the first 3 model numbers. If I remember right mine is Janome.

I sure can relate. I always preload 3-4 bobbins for a project and makes it easy when my bobbin runs out. Congrats on your progress. Mine is almost finished too. One more side to sew the binding on the back.

I would have but didn't have any free bobbins. As a matter of fact, I had to dethread one just to use!  I actually have several empty bobbins but they're not the right ones - got them when I didn't know what I was doing/what bobbin I needed years ago.  My instruction book says nothing about what type of bobbin you need (there's just a drawing of bobbins where it tell you the accessories) so I had no idea it mattered. (apparently mine takes class 15)  My daughter has a Brother bought at Walmart probably close to 20 years ago for Christmas when she was in 4H. One of these days I need to find out what bobbins her machine takes. I can't even remember if it's top loading or not. Probably is with plastic bobbins.

Re: Progress report and some fun....
Lol these are all great. I used to sew years and years ago. I made all of my kids' Halloween costumes back in the 80s and when I was younger I made doll clothes for my sister's dolls, including Barbie. I made dresses for us and even a bathing suit for myself once. Made curtain valances too. I did a lot of sewing. But I gave away my sewing machine years ago because after a while we didn't get along. I always had bobbin issues where the bobbin thread would knot up and I would have no idea why. It drove me crazy. Even after getting another machine I had bobbin issues and after a while just gave up sewing. I'm sure it was just me not knowing how to adjust it or something but I couldn't take the frustration any more. Lol. The seem ripper meme is perfect! I would have hung that above my sewing machine lol.
