Who wants to help me with a photo/layout?

Hello, Cherries!
I need some advice. I've been struggling with this photo all weekend. I love this picture and have been dying to scrap it. (My son just LOVED playing in his sister's Barbie house!) The problem is . . . I can't find a paper or color combo that works. As you can imagine, all the boy lines that I have are bright, primary colors. Once you put the picture with the purple and pink Barbie house on them, things look really off! I tried playing with the picture -- making it black and white, sepia, etc. but it just loses something without the color. What do you ladies think? Maybe just go with white and blue (playing off of this clothes)? Any thoughts you might have are welcome!

Cute photo. I think you should look at the music challenge, there is a blue zigzag circle there which might be perfect.

You could use something from this line.

I see some green and blue in the left corner of the photo (are they books?) Along with the yellow door knob, maybe you can go full tropical rainbow.

A black and white or navy/ivory layout would make the most of the colourful photo.

Before I read your entire post I looked at the photo. I agree with what you said at the end with the white and blue. Maybe a lot of white, then touches of navy blue and even yellow because of the knob? This was my first thought.

I would try a house theme. Echo Park used to have a line with a playhouse in it and play items. Iโm sure you could find something with a house in it and play toys.

I was thinking the same thing about the doorknob.

When all else fails or when I can't find a theme paper that works with my theme, I usually go to looking through my Doodlebug Petite Prints. They are subtle patterns and come in many different colors. I look at those or any paper similar in style. You could pick up on the yellow doorknob as was suggested and use a subtle yellow background, or a neutral background similar to the color of the house and then add yellow strips and maybe a touch of the pink and/or purple. You could even pick up on the shiplap look of the house and use that as a pattern for your background in basically the same color as the house. That would bring the house into the layout without having to find a particular theme paper in the right colors. Just my thoughts lol.

Blue and white with a light touch of the lavender from the photo! Lol that's what I would do.

My sister just said "Her title should be 'Look, It's KEN" and then use the pink and purple with mostly navy and ivory playing on his dark clothes and ivory house.

I think grabbing the other colors in the photo like the teal, green and yellow would tie everything together. The photo has enough pink to stand alone. Adorable photo!

I think this is perfect! I was going to suggest going with the purple and teal and use tertiary colors. This collection is just right! You can use a lot of the black & white to make it more boyish too. And use some Ken quotes from the movie - he's got Kenergy!! He is Kenough! (DD just HAD to have that hoodie, heehee!)

It's not as good as my sister's suggestion, but I"m thinking that the black stripes of the iconic bathing suit would be fun, too.

Super cute photo! I would go with a solid white cardstock background and mat the photo in navy (my preference) or maybe coordinating pinks or both. You could mimic the siding design on the house with strips of color picking up everything in the photo. I would add some enamel dots too to pick up the shape of the doorknob. Some type of door tag or embellishment that opens would be cute also with the โoh look, itโs Kenโ behind it.

Lots of good advice here, and maybe you've already chosen, but I was going to say that mint green looks good with navy, so maybe, white, mint, and navy papers and let the pink and purple from the photo stand out against them.
