Collections
Are you the buy the whole collection person or a bits and pieces person? I am the whole collection person. I’m finishing up an album from 2017 with our C class camper so I figured I would reward myself with a new collection. I’m now sitting here with almost $400 in my cart and can’t decide what stays and what go’s!

I have the Sherbet collection in my cart…. I love the colors and the style…but its not my style of scrapbooking…. But maybe it could be my style? I’ve learned so many new techniques here, I really think I could easily work with it.

I have the Call of the Wild collection, which is a no brainer for me because we camp so often.

I have the Lemon Twist collection… I love the colors! I think it will look amazing with Chocolate and Black Labradors!

What’s on your list?

I am sometimes an “all” of the collection, but I am also a pick and choose from collections !
It depends ! Lol that comes from my years of reading hazardous waste regulations …

I don’t have much in my cart right now . I just received my preorder that I’ve been waiting a while for everything to come in. Sone the new 49th and market - sherbert was in that!!! I love it even more in person!
I have some call of the wild papers and stickers too lol!

Re: Collections
Right now I have nothing in my cart because right after NSD I placed a $319 order!!!

It's rare that I buy an entire collection anymore.  But, when Basic Grey was around I almost always bought entire collections! So far this year I've purchased 3 collections . . . baby boy, baby girl, and birthday.  I haven't used them yet, though.  Prior to that, it was a Doodlebug collection and I used almost every shred of that kit!  Other than that, I just choose bits and pieces -- usually paper and stickers!
OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙

Re: Collections
I'm a huge Doodlebug Design fan so when I get hooked on one of their collections, I try to get every bit of it.  I fell in love with them about 2 years ago, so I was also tracking down older collections like So Much Pun, So Punny, Sweet Summer that I wanted everything.  LOL

Currently I don't have anything in my cart as I just placed an order with the 20% off sale.  Nothing super exciting, mostly adhesive because I was running low.

I do feel like a hoarder on some of my collections, but trying to actually use them.  :greenlol:

Re: Collections
I usually buy the entire 12 x 12 paper kit collection and add on ephemera if it's something I really like.  Also the 6 x 6 pads.  If you don't grab when you see it, chances are it will be gone when you go back for it.  My favorite collections are Cocoa Vanilla and Simple Stories.  I love some of Vicki Boutin's papers and typically buy them separately.  I just received 2 huge orders this past week because I needed Bazzill.  Like Laura, when BG was around I bought everything that went with the collection.  I'm hoarding a stash of BG for no apparent reason.

Re: Collections
I get terrible FOMO if I don't order whole collections.  I especially order all of Vicki Boutin's lines.  I heard Allison Davis say once that 6x6 paper pads are a great way to order some of a collection, when you don't want to break the bank ordering the whole thing.  So sometimes I order 6x6 or 6x8 pad then some die cuts for embellishments.

I mostly pick and select these days. I have so much that I'll never use up. I feel it is too wasteful for me when I can add some of what I already have.
If you are not like me who has been collecting for many years, the whole collection may be just wonderful for you!

Re: Collections
Well, I would say I'm a "buy half the collection" gal. I usually want most of the paper and some of the embellies. I will get a package of ephemera or the sticker sheet and maybe the enamel dots or puffy stickers.

My cart is empty but I have over $500 in my wishlist...including 49 & Market Sherbet collection!!

You need to join us when we have the "Envies" sign ups. We shop from each others wish lists here at ACOT. It's fun to get a surprise every month!!

Some of each. Some collections, I buy a few sheets and some embellishments. Some I buy the collection pack and some additional items.depends on how useful the collection will be for me.

I got gobs and gobs of that spectrum sherbet for Mother’s Day. It’s so beautiful. I will find things to use it for.

Re: Collections
Question - how do you know how much you have in your wish list? I don’t see a grand total. I’m a collection kind of girl and it’s so bad that I also buy the card stock that ACOT recommends. I do it because I can scrap faster at crops or retreats and not have to go searching for single papers to match.

The "est. total" of your wishlist is above the list of items. There is a green CHECKOUT box right beside the total. hope that helps

Oh I see it now on my computer, I couldn't see it on my phone. Thanks so much Joannie, I appreciate it. Oh boy $600, I'm in trouble, lol. At this rate I will have to win the lottery or apply for a job at ACOT to get an employee discount!!

Re: Collections
I have the Lemon Twist collection times 2 because I was ordering for a special gift album and I ordered too much!  :)  That's one of the few that I bought almost everything that was available.  I can tell you that it goes with a LOT more than you might think!  It's awesome for cards too!

As for the 6x6 pads I could never understand why anyone would want them.  Now I'm hooked!!!  I have taken 2 of Allison Davis's classes on 6x6 pads and I have learned SO MUCH on how to use them!  She's going to be having another one but I don't know when.  The video link will give you a good idea too.  The main thing about the 6x6 pads is that the print on them is reduced so it's not like cutting a 12x12 sheet into 4 pieces.  You would lose quite a bit of the design that way.  Not with the 6x6 pads!  And they're easy to store and use.

After almost 22 years of scrapping I have figured out that the pre-packaged kit is perfect for me.  Sometimes I'll buy an ephemera or sticker set to go with the kit but normally I don't need it.  I'm collecting all the colors/styles of Nuvo Drops because they're typically between $3 and $5 each bottle and I can match ANYTHING with them!  Plus you can use them for water colors!  So I feel like that's a huge savings for me because I love the enamel dot looks.

Hope all our suggestions help you with your decisions!

Re: Collections
GREAT discussion here! I typically buy just a few papers from the collections I like- sometimes the stickers and ephemera, too. I absolutely love the Sherbet collection and have the 6x8 paper pads, and some of the laser cuts- I might actually spring for some more of the collection later- it sure is gorgeous! I love Vicki Boutin, too and probably will buy an entire collection at some point. Sometimes I buy the collection with the 12x12 that comes with stickers and cut aparts. It's rare but if I love it, I will.
Sometimes if I love a stamp set or stencil from a collection, I'll buy those, too. I love mixed media and making my own pattern papers, and creating my own embellishment sometimes, too.
Janet@RTS (ALSO a cherry lol) has some great videos about purchasing from collections without breaking the bank. (I LOVE learning from other scrappers- YouTube has a plethora of ideas, and so does Pinterest.)
I've got so much paper and supplies that I REALLY need to NOT buy anymore for a while..... HOWEVER, it's nice to treat ourselves! I don't buy an excessive amount of a single sheet anymore - in the past I would buy up to 8 sheets of a single paper I REALLY loved- especially if it was on sale. Now I limit myself to 2 or 3 of a single sheet because you KNOW - we end up with so much leftover paper, and sometimes our tastes change.
But I've ALSO learned that if I REALLY love it, it's okay to go grab it. I wish I'd bought MORE of certain brands in the past and we live and learn.
And the Envie sounds SUPER fun!

I’m not an all in collection type person.  I just buy the pieces I really like and supplement with some of the card stock I already have.  I try to be choosy about what I buy.  I have some of the new Disney collection pieces and some of the preorder Dog collections in my cart right now along with a few stencils.

Re: Collections
I usually buy bits and pieces. However, back in day, I used to buy up entire Basic Grey collections because...well...BASIC GREY.

I do tend to buy most of a collection for dog and cat since I've got 3 and 1 (respectively). And I do tend to buy up most of a collection for Boys or Baby Boys since I've got 3 nephews and they are under the age of 4, with the youngest only a year old.

I rarely buy an entire collection.  Sometimes I might get all the papers if I really like a collection , along with some kind of embellishment - maybe stickers or die cuts.  Pretty fond of enamel dots and brads too.  And I almost never buy Thickers unless they are on sale.  I will cut titles on my Silhouette.

Re: Collections
I don't think I've ever gotten a whole collection.  I will sometimes buy the paper pack, but most often I pick a few papers and a sticker set or embellishment pack.  I like variety,  so I'd rather create 3 layouts from a lot of collections than 10 layouts from one.  I try to buy things with a plan to scrap because no matter how much I like a paper,  if it doesn't fit any photos or events in scrapping I won't use it.

I don't buy the collection packs, I like to pick and choose. Even my very favorite Doodlebug 💜 I pick and choose and technically make my own "collection pack" because I hoard everything Doodlebug. Lol.
