Last night I was trying to do a layout from Last Christmas from the Festival of the Trees. There was a Police Officer Shot and killed a year ago. There was a tree and display in his honor. I have several photos for a 2 page Layout. I have his photo and a picture of his badge, Do I scrap it with Christmas Paper or More patriotic or solid card stock with a few embellishments?

I don't think you would want it to be a 'Christmas' theme per say. But if you have some wintry papers with trees (since the tree in his honor is the focus) that might work. You could fit the colors related to police work in with that. Our officers here wear blue so winter colors would work well. If yours wear green stay with those colors. Does this make sense?

I think this is a great idea. I don't think I'd use Christmas colors either, or Christmas papers. But I think it's great that you are honoring his service and memory!

Thanks I appreciate your ideas. That is what I will do. I have a few ideas stewing in my head now.

Wow, how sad. I agree with Berta - I'd shy away from the traditional Christmas-y colors/mood. Were there ornaments or certain elements on the tree that you could mimic? For instance, the sheriffs around here have star badges and green uniforms/gold/white uniforms.
Do you have any pictures we could see?

It was all police related. Handcuffs, Police ribbons, car ornaments, cars that moved etc. There was a big red and blue flashing light on the tree too. etc. There was a big toy police car kids could fit in. It has a bear with an actual police shirt. Then a large K-nine stuffed animal next to it. A police patch from the different police dept. in the area. I will probably have to order some embellishments.

Love the idea of sticking with greens and blues! If you are going to include it with other layouts from the same night/Christmas, you could probably add in some red, silver, or gold. Stars and trees would probably be great for embellishments, too.

All great ideas for a tribute page - Here's a couple ideas for background paper:
BoBunny Enchanted Garden or KaiserCraft Base Coat PP or what was that blurred background PP from a while ago? It looked like a photo out of focus.
Create your own star background matching colors to photos?
