Scrap-A-Day, July 9th
Good morning cherries!  Lady seems to be doing a little better today. No accidents, and she is able to walk around, drink water, ang go outside to do her thing w/o problems. However, she hasn't eaten yet. I'm almost thinking she might not be interested in food early in the morning (between 7:30 & 8). So I'm letting her rest, and will try again in about an hr or so.

Anybody scrapping today? I sure hope I can. I wanna do the scraplift MMC challenge. I did the poem one last night. That was fun!

I'm going to work on the Summer challenge today.  I've got the bills paid, so I can move into my scrappy space before the house gets too hot.

Glad Lady Lou is feeling some betters.  I hope that she begins to eat; otherwise you may have to look into giving her some Ensure or something.  I've got to crush up some Tylenol for my 3.5 lb baby girl Duchess, her back is hurting and she's yelping when we pick her up - she stopped jumping up onto the couch right after she threw her back out the first time.  Smart dog thinking - 'don't chance it!'.  Unfortunately, this is the one dog that absolutely refuses to take meds - even crushed it's a battle to get her to swallow it with peanut butter or any other yummy.  She's kind of a b*@!#! LOL!!!

Re: Scrap-A-Day, July 9th
Good morning!!

I made a card for the MMC challenge.  It came out cute and I'll post it later in the week.  I have to print out some pictures for the scraplift challenge.  I'm going to send them to the CVS around the corner.  But I am totally drawing a blank on the ad challenge.  There is nothing there that inspires me except the white lettering. And I have to find a poem.

Brandy, I'm glad Lady is doing a little better.  Could she still be uncomfortable from the dental work which is keeping her from eating?

Nonna, have fun scrapping!  And good luck getting Duchess to take her medicine.
It's absolutely torture for me to give meds to the cat.  She'll fight me, run, hide, etc.  She knows all the tricks.  For a while she would take the meds in her food but they changed the formula so now it doesn't dissolve.  She would clean her plate and leave the dumb pill there.  The vet was able to switch her to a transdermal medication that I just rub on the tip of her ear. It's changed our lives.

Janet, wtg getting a layout done already!!

Good morning - I am Deborah and am new to this (scrapbooks cards etc.) and new to message boards - so forgive me for butting in but I was sorry to read your dog was ill - I ran a rescue for many years and still have the stragglers that were not adopted ( I could not BEAR to take them BACK to the pound LOL)  so my heart is big for dogs - have you tried breaking a tablet in half and shoving it long ways into a piece of hot dog?  Dogs can smell crushed pills a mile away so it's best not to crush them but GOOD LUCK with her .. I hope she's getting better.  -- ALSO I have a question on the challenges you mentioned - I don't know what the MMH one is but the Ad challenge - are we supposed to do a photo layout? or an AD using the inspiration -- I am so sorry it's such a silly question but I honestly don't know - I'd probably do better on an ad than figuring out how to place photos in it LOL. a lot to take in here.  Thank you for any advice or tips - my best to Lady Bug.

Yeah, I'm drawing a blank on the ad challenge too. I'm thinking about using the smaller photos that run at the bottom for whatever photos I choose to scrap. Probably doggie layout, Lol. I've been doing alot of those lately.

The poem one was easy for me once I found the poem. Its a doggie one and when I read it, I knew I had to scrap Penny as I had the PERFECT photos too. Image

The TY card is alot simpler. I want to work on that one, as well as the scraplift one. I found the perfect photo I want to use and I have washi too. Just need to find the perfect pp. Looks like I'm a bit of a perfectionist...hahaha. Aren't we all?

With Lady..I'm on the verge of running out of ideas. I've tried the Puppy Food thing, the shredded chicken. Gonna try some instant mashed potatoes here pretty soon. She isn't on any meds (hasn't taken them since Monday). When I try to feed her she has the strength to get up and walk away, almost run away from me. Wow.

Hi Deborah and welcome to ACOT!  Thank you for your concern. Lady Lou is a 13 1/2 year old alaskan spitz and last Thursday she went in for a teeth cleaning. She had to have four teeth extracted and she tends to go up and down with eating and not eating. Throwing up and not throwing up. Potty outside okay and not. She continues to drink water, so she is staying hydrated. She took her meds very well the first day, then was a PITA for the 2nd, and flat out refused with the 3rd. We have tried crushing it, and jamming it down her throat. Hiding it in cheese, ham, turkey, chicken, egg and pill pocket. She doesn't like Peanut Butter and we ended up buying a Pill Shooter to help me make sure the pill goes down her throat and I help her swallow it by keeping her head up and massaging her throat. She is usually my BEST doggie patient (I have five) but not this time.

MMC means Mini Monday Crop. One of the members here (Art_Teacher/Laura) hosts them every summer. Every other Monday. They are so fun!

For the Ad Challenge - scrap however that Ad inspires you. Use the colors. Use a large photo as the background with smaller ones at the bottom. Its up to you.

I'm glad that Lady Lou is better but sad that she is not eating.  Have you tried yogurt? when mine have tummy issues or don't want to eat, i try a bit of low fat vanilla. So really she has the energy to "almost run" from eating.... silly girl!
nonna-- good luck with getting Duchess to take her meds... sorry her back is hurting! poor little thing.
Christine- Can't wait to see your card! I love looking at them but don't usually make any--Good for you!
Janet-- you go! That is great already getting some quiet time and able to finish a layout!

I was thinking of using a big circle background with a border strip (over or above) to mimic the lips with the tag line crossing over.  A filmstrip with pictures or papers on the bottom.  Big white letters. Then call it done?  I don't know.  I'm sorry you're struggling too.

That's great you found the perfect poem!

I'm sorry about Lady. I hate that it's impossible to reason with pets.  :(
My cat has a seizure disorder of sorts and was on medication to control them a couple of years ago.  It was a battle.  every day. twice a day.  It got to where she wouldn't even come near me at all when she's normally my shadow.  It was so upsetting for both of us. Then, I had a couple of days off of work and I told her she's getting a couple of days off the meds too.  We never went back.  She was still having seizures on the meds and as long as they didn't get too frequent, we were done done with medicine.  She still has an episode every once in a great while but not any where near as severe as they were then.  Now she has an overactive thyroid.

Oh my...poor baby....seizures? That is so sad. I can only imagine the struggles of getting a CAT to take meds, much less a dog. Yikes!

Got all my morning chores done so now I DO plan to scrap.  I'm working on a photo embossing technique that I saw on another site.  I'm going to try to  incorporate it into an ACOT challenge.  I'll share when I get it finished.  Hopefully this afternoon.

I'm looking for a poem, too, and a song from the 80's.

I want to scrap but my mojo has gone on an extended vacation.  The challenges are awesome but I can't seem to get motivated. Maybe I'll try to find a sketch or template to work with or maybe try a scraplift to get things going.  Right now it's just not happening.

Re: Scrap-A-Day, July 9th
Just getting on here today!  I wanted to get so many scrappy projects done--the BF #70, 3 out of 4 of the MMC's (I did the easiest first, lol, the card), and as many of the July challenges as I can.  But just getting started on the BF #70!  As for the MMC #4--the ad--I was looking for photos and my 13 yo DD said the line "Say something juicy."  Then she said that I should scrap some watermelon pictures!  Excellent idea.  I think I'll make a border strip along the bottom like the small pics, but maybe have watermelon die cuts in small squares.  Maybe add 3 strips of washi or something.

Yesterday, I took the kids running errands and shopping.  Wore them out, and I never made it to Walmart!  Will have to do that later this week.

Oh, and before I forget, I have to check out the rest of the entrants for the June Pinterest challenge and pick a winner!
