YAY!!! DH and I made some enamel dots last night. Only 4 of 5 colors, because I was a bit nervous. They came out great except for the black ones. I forgot that I was told the darker ones take a little more time. Good thing I only did 4 of them. Now I can't wait to make more and I also can't wait to use the ones I made.

Thank you to Barb (aka stampaholic85) for sending me the directions and some from your stash. You are right - they are addicting Image

How fun...I think I like the projects of making the supplies as much as using them!  Enjoy!

Glad they worked for you!  I found when I made them that a lower temperature for a longer time was the secret to getting them to melt without a pit in the top, especially for the darker ones.

That is exactly what I was told and what I did last night, I just forgot and put black ones on my sheet. They didn't finish melting like all the others did. Live and learn Image

Yep I sure do, considering we only did 4 of 5 colors and the pail had 8,500 AND  while looking for the silicone sheet yesterday, I picked up even more. There was a set that had those stripped ones in it too. I forgot to look and see how many beads were in there. YIKES!!!!! I better get baking  Image

Good for you!  I bought the beads over a month ago but haven't attempted to turn them into Enamel Dots yet.

I would love to try this!  In ave no enamel dots which made some of the challenges hard since they required the as an option.  Tnat option was always always out the door immediately for me.  Would someone please share how to make them and which beads work best to buy?  Then when we go somewhere (we live 2 hours from any cities/towns big enough for craft stores) I can look for the beads.  Thanks

I don't have any and have never used an enamel dot.  I've been seeing this pop up on SB message boards and it looks like more fun to make them yourself.

Is there directions somewhere on ACOT? I just added drops of nail polish to my layout and dried overnight. That seemed to work ok. Just wondering...

There was a topic  (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=252256&hilit=homemade+enamel+dots) started by Scrapy1967 about this a few weeks ago and this was my post:
I finally got a chance to try making these and they turned out great!!  I used Perler beads, a pack of 1000 was only $2.99, less than a pack of enamel dots!  I used my Ranger Craft Sheet on a cookie sheet and they did not stick at all.  I baked them at 325 for about 20-30 minutes.  I used one bead for medium sized, a bead cut in half for the small size and two stacked on top of each other for large.  It was tricky to get the stacked ones in the oven without them toppling over, but other than that it was very easy.  There was almost no smell at such a low temperature.  (higher temps led to a strong plastic smell).  I now have 35 colors of enamel dots for under $3!!  Thanks so much for sharing this.

I posted a how to a couple months go. With the temp and the results. Mine turned out amazing and I need to make more cause I have used up almost all of mine. I used pony beads and perler. They both turned out ok with a bit of a different look.
