Does anyone know of a good way to scrap while on bedrest?  I have a lap desk but it just doesnt seem big enough and things keep sliding off.

I've seen bed trays with short folding legs, or a plastic one at Hobby Lobby with some small compartment holders.  I think they are with the kids art supplies.  Good luck with finding something to suit your needs while you're on bed rest.

Wow, I have never even thought of that as an option! I am sorry to hear you are down. A speedy recovery to you, and if one of these great cherries can answer your question, I would love to know!! You never know when it might come in handy!!!

Thank you to both of you.  I just feel that instead of being bored and in pain, scrapping would make the time go faster.  Another question...how did you get your profile pic?

As for the Avatar, go to "My Account" at the top right hand corner, then click on Edit Your Bio (left hand side, 5th item down the list). From there you can add your avatar, edit your bio, etc.

You also have to upload your picture to the gallery first. Then right click it, and "copy URL".  Then when you're prompted for the URL in the avatar box, paste the copied URL.

At IKEA I've seen rolling desk thingys (descriptive, eh?) that you can roll across your bed and use as a work surface when needed and then roll it off when you need to sleep. Kinda like this -

I'm assuming other furniture stores must have them too. Good luck & I hope you feel better soon xo

In 2009, I broke my foot on Mother's Day.  I had only been scrapping on a regular basis for about 3 years in the current format of 12x12.
my doctor wanted me to elevate my foot above my heart for six weeks as part of the healing process. Want to guess how many paper layouts I got done?
Enter digital.  I explored the option, and fell in love.  Two reasons, it was quick and no mess. And it was portable, I could either be in bed, or on the couch.  as long as my foot was up, I could position my laptop in such a way that I could see the screen.

Now I consider myself bi-scriptural.  I love paper and don't think I'll ever give up my stash.  But about 90% of my layouts are digital. There are a number of Cherries who could help you get started if you like.  there is even a forum with step by step tutorials that we can point you to here at ACOT. And of course there is you-tube.

Hope your rest is that, rest.  and that you are up and about soon.

That was my thought too....to explore digital. I also still love paper, and keep a serious stash. Most of my layouts are digital, but I alter crafts and make cards and lots of stuff like that. Digital might be the way to keep yourself occupied while your activities and movement are restricted!

Even though I'm not on bed rest (and wishing you a speedy recovery Rene), I MUST have this.  Usually on Saturday and/or Sunday morning my hubby brings me tea in bed and I watch girlie stuff on the DVR.  I could do a little scrapping too!!

Unfortunatley, I've also had a couple of instances where I've been confined to bed. I have one of those over the bed tables like in hospitals.  I've had it for years. I ordered it from a medical supply company.

Hmm wondering if you could create your own temp version with some saw horses and plywood??  Just a thought

Sorry you're not doing well right now. Hope the recovery is quick. Seems like I've seen adjustable height tables/desks. Maybe even a folding table that would be adjustable height-wise.

Love the Ikea bed table!

sorry you are on bed rest and hope you feel better soon!

not sure what sort of condition you are in but I sit on my bed and scrap a lot...   I just lay my big old scrap mat on the bed, with the current project that I am working on on top and I have a tote that has all these side pockets for all the little embellies, pens, glues, scissors, etc that I sit right there next to me and crab my 12x12 cutter and I am ready for a LO.

Many times when you are on "bed rest" you are allowed to walk to the bathroom and such - it's a matter of not moving around a lot.

Ask if you are permitted to sit up in a chair with your legs elevated so that  you can go to your scrap area and get comfy there.

My spine makes me have to sit in a reclining position on the bed or couch most of the time, so I have a couple of lapboards I use. One is a 12x12 that goes everywhere with me, that's perfect for cardmaking, smaller layouts (I usually work in 8x8) etc. For big stuff I have an artist's lap easel that has a Making Memories magnetic 12x12 grid mat clamped on it. The magnets hold my layout and elements in place so it's perfect for scrapping. The only drawback is that it's a bit heavy compared to the other one.

I also like to keep a 12x12 project box beside me to keep my stuff in while I work. Keeps things from rolling away or getting lost.

Good luck! I'm hoping bed rest won't last too long for you!

Thank you, I'll be on bed rest on and off for a little while.
