How do you color?
What do you color your stamped images with? Colored pencils, markers, copics? I'm in the learning stage of using stamps and have only colored with some colored pencils. I have learned to use a blending pen with them. They look nice but wonder if I could do better with another method?

I just invested in all the Copics so hopefully I will learn to colour with them. I have Tim Holtz's markers too but have never used them :O but hope to sometime!

I like to use a blending pen with twinkling H2Os when I color in my stamps which isn't too often, but I really like the look of them colored in.

I have a million Twinkling H2os that I need to use. I have a water pen will that work?

Re: How do you color?
Honestly I have never colored any of them in. I try not to use stamps that should be colored in...I have been using mostly titles/words, stamped in different colors. I have a whole bunch of copics, but really haven't used them.

Re: How do you color?
Sounds like we need some advice from the pros. I have a friend who is an artist with copics. I call her a master colourer. She does amazing things. maybe I could bring her here and see if she can show us how to do it.

I've been leery of putting out the money for copics until I know I'd like them and could use them. I'm not an artist and worry about messing up the whole thing, LOL!

I've not tried the twinklings, do they color bright or light or depends on how you apply them?

Re: How do you color?
I use Copics now. I used pencils and mineral spirits until I won a bunch of used copics off of kathy racoosin's blog. I added colors here and there. Love them. I tried a pack of the spectrum noir markers I picked up at J's and I find them a LOT harder to use vs the copics and will just add copic colors as needed.

Re: How do you color?
I use Prismacolor pencils and then use odorless mineral spirts with a blending stump to blend the colors. It's easy and looks super nice, plus it's fun.

I use Prisma watercolor pencils and then a little brush with water. I tried the Copics but I couldn't get them to work as easily as the pencils.

Re: How do you color?
I use Prismacolor pencils, Prismacolor alcohol markers (sparingly, because I can't refill them), and Spectrum Noir markers. I have a Christmas request in already for a set of Copics. Any advice on what colors I should start with?

YES, I need to know too. So many shades of colors! I'm anxious to see how they do. I like the pencils but want to see what else I can do.

Mine aren't Prisma. I bought a beginner's pack to watercolor. I see several mentions of this brand. Are they better than most?

Re: How do you color?
I usually stamp on patterned paper then cut out my image. But occasionally I use regular colored pencils or Prisma watercolor pencils. I have some markers, but I'm not real sure on getting them to blend.... that's why I haven't bought the Copics, I just don't know how to color anymore.
(PS: I saw that the flesh tone set and a few other are on sale here now).

Never thought of stamping on patterned paper. How interesting. I'll go look at those copics.

Re: How do you color?
You may also want to look at spectrum noir markers..they are cheaper then copics..and are sold in color families of six for most sets..then there are some 24 count sets. I own the whole range of them. I bought most packs of 6 for roughly 8 dollars a pack. Are they the same quality as the copics..probably not..but for me they are great..plus i could afford to get them all so i wouldn't be limited with my color choices. I need to experiment more with their skin tones...so far i like copic a little better for those..but i think once i start practicing it will get easier.

Something else to color with is distress inks...i just stamp them on my craft mat..spritz a little water to the side..dip brush in water then in ink and paint with them. Love this method and use it a lot.

Oh...with copics and spectrum noir...momento tuxedo black is a great choice to stamp you images with....staz on will "bleed" and could ruin your marker.
