3 ring?

Circus? Just kidding.
Thinking of switching to 3 ring binders instead of post bound. I can only add one refill pack for a total of 20 inserts. And sometimes I can't get the posts tight enough or pages become loose, wiggly over time. I have a modest budget too. Recommendations? Thoughts? What to know? How many inserts fit in the ring binders comfortably? Thanks!

I love my three rings! So easy to add the extra pages for photos from WRMK too between the layouts. I've probably done 60 or more page protectors in some of my albums, depending on how embellie crazy I get.

I started with the post albums then after using my first three ring binder was hooked. They are so much easier & I find they hold more pages and are more stable.

Yes, I am generally more satisfied with 3-ring binders than postbound albums. I still like postbound for small albums that I intend to give away though.

I have done both kinds and really like the 3 ring albums for the larger albums. They are sturdy and easy to put a page in after the album is put together. I still like the post bond albums for the not so big albums. Especially with my two page LOs. The post bond albums seem to keep the pages tighter together. I too have gotten over 60 pages in a 3 ring.

I will only buy 3 Rings any more. American Crafts are awesome. And I like Laurie, can get at least 60 page protectors (120 pages) in them. If they aren't bulky, even more.

That's all I buy, are the three ring binder. Love them!! I do buy post bound if I am doing a smaller album and giving it away.

Oh, and another thing? I've started to put the "current" pictures I take in these in the albums, so I can pull what I want for the layout, and yet all the photos are with the event!

I've done all three types: strap, postbound, and D-ring!
My preference is definitely D-ring! I still use strap from CM because I can personalize it and I love that!
My first was my wedding album from Basic Grey. Don't like the quality and it's too full, should have gotten a second. May toss it and put my wedding layouts in a WMRK 3 ring! I call that lesson learned!!
I've looked at a great number of D-rings. I'm picky about quality & durability in that order as a result of buying that Basic Grey album. To me the best deal for the money I spend is WMRK! In my mind price becomes a non-issue when I want them to last and last and last. I don't want to have to re-purchase albums in my lifetime. I can get pretty bulky with my scrapping so there will be 18-20 pages in an album. I've not completely filled an WMRK album yet as I jump all over the place with my scrapping. I have heritage album and my mothers horse album. The heritage album is being done in chronological order. Since I need another I want to get the first one done so I'll be concentrating on the photos from late 1800's through early 1900's the rest of the year. I'm somewhat now doing the same as I've gotten the second album and spending more time with getting the layouts done to complete that album and return it to Mom.
The other thing I really like about the albums now that I have some pocket pages is I can see myself incorporating them into multiple photos of an event or subject.
They have four really pretty new WMRK albums in the store that aren't solid color. I'm thinking about one for my mother's cruise! About to ask Clint a question about them.

I've always used strap hinge. I love them.
I have one post bound and I had so much trouble trying to get the extenders in I wanted to toss it. I'm sure there's a knack to it but I was just done with it at that point so didn't really give it another chance.
I know this doesn't really answer your question, but I know your frustration with the post bound.

My secret to postbound is to have DH put his weight on it while I tighten the posts
I'm not overly frustrated with them but I'm accumulating so many of them and a few just don't stay together nicely. And I wish I could get more pages in one. Sometimes they don't stay open nicely when looking through them and I thought 3-ring/D-ring would be a better option.

I love my 3D ring binders from WRMK!!!! I like their faux leather and linen!! Great colors to choose from!! I use lots of different colors instead sticking with one color! But definitely I'm a "ring" girl!!!

I'm a very inconsistant scrapper. I never create layout for my photos in a chronological order so for me 3 ring is an absolute hevean! I can insert my layouts anywhere I want it's so easy. I use an American Crafts binder. The number of paes I can fit depends on how many embellishments I put and if the pages are "fat" or not

I started with the strap hinge you know the kind CM used.....then I got a couple post bound..... I found a bunch of these on clearance for about 2.50 so of course I bought several. I am using them up but I have one 3 ring that I am also using and will use these from now on. I do like the option of being able to add inserts for pics that go with the layout but were not included on it.

Oh, my yes!
Here's a link to the albums that ACOT carries! There's only one on this page that is not 3 ring.

Thanks for the info.
I did a 3 ring 8.5 x 11, my first one. I liked working w/ it. But I like the 12 x 12.
Post bound...those I use for gifts.
