I'm so excited... and scared!!!
I created a scrapbook album for the girl on my daughter's high school softball team that graduated in 2010. The girls presented it to her at their last home game last weekend. One of the parents looked over the book several times, and really liked it. He coached my daughter in Little League Softball a few years ago and at the end of the season I made a layout of the team and framed it for him... he loved it. Anyway, he approached me a few days ago and asked if I could make an album of softball, and maybe other sports pictures, for his daughter who just graduated last weekend, and if so, how much would it cost him. I thought about it and told him that I could do it for $100 plus the cost of an album, if it's 20 pages or less. He thought that was fair ... and once they get back from the State Championships (he's one of the coaches) he and his ex-wife will gather up pictures for me.

While I've made a few albums for other people, this is the first time I'm doing on as a "job" and getting paid. Maybe this will turn into a business for me. :)

Yes, that is scary, I understand. I've made wedding albums for some relatives and of course they loved them, but they were getting them for free. I would have to charge too much to make one for someone else- they take me forever. Good luck to you- he must've liked your work or he wouldn't have asked!

My Mom and sister think I should do this too and I have been thinking about it. That was the same price that I had in mind too. At least that much, depending on what "type" of album they wanted. Good luck, I hope you get more business! Keep us posted, I would be very interested. If I do it, I would be targeting weddings. That's just my preference.

Thanks for all the words of encouragement! I ordered enough paper to not only do Katie's album, but one for my daughter. She'll be a senior next year and it's my goal to present her with a book of her sports ... softball and karate ... upon her graduation. Also, she's been the high school mascot for Freshman, Sophore and Junior year, as well as will be again for Senior year, so need to do a few pages of that.

Don't be nervous! Just have fun and do your usual beautiful work. The only difference is that you get paid for it this time which means that you can buy more scrappy goodies!
