Three Ring Albums
I have noticed in several of the album threads that a lot of people are using the 3 -ring binder albums. I was at Archiver's a couple of weeks ago looking for a new album and there were very few post bound albums -- even Basic Grey had some beautiful 3 ring binders!

I hesitate to switch to the ring/binder style because I can't imagine flipping through the pages and looking at the layouts. It seems to me that it would be either uncomfortable to hold in a lap on the couch or awkward to turn the pages. Just from the sharing and showing off perspective, it seems to me that post-bound works better (especially at the 12x12 size.)

How does that work for you? Is it easy for people to flip through your albums to look at your layouts? Do they have to set them on the table and carefully slide each page over the ring to get to the next one? Or does it seem to not make a difference?

Re: Three Ring Albums
I have them in both 8.5x11 and 12x12 and it's actually easier for people to look through, they do take up more space but everyon still hold it in their laps. Also It seems easier for them to turn pages they are not as worried about it falling apart, don't know why I just noticed they seem more relaxed maybe that's not a good thing lol! I have had post bound fall aprat on me when they get too thick so I really love the 3 ring albums. I still use some post bound but if I could I would trade them all for 3-ring!

I'm an 8.5 x 11 scrapper and I use 3-ring. I don't notice any more discomfort or awkwardness holding them on the lap or flipping through them than any other album.
OCD is not an adjective.  It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized.  It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. 💙 I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son. 💙

Re: Three Ring Albums
Nobody really looks at my albums but me, but I do it alot. And I don't seem to have any trouble turning the pages. However, the only thing I don't like about the 3 rings is if you do alot of two page layouts, they aren't gonna be side by side when you open to that page. There will be a big division down the middle where the rings are. I don't do alot of two pagers, so it isn't really an issue. And if I do a 2 page layout, I just kind of make both pages flow together, but don't divide photos or anything across the two pages.....does that make sense at all??

I have both and find the 3-ring easier to turn. For me the post bound always stick.

Re: Three Ring Albums
When I lived in AUS I had a few ring binder albums. I loved them over my post bound ones. They were easier to flip through. I had a leather bound WRMK one that was my BOM album & I had a few from a company called Print Blocks. I am now on the hunt for new albums as I have started scrapping again over the last week (getting my order from ACOT made me super happy to start playing again lol) and I already have a few new layouts to put in them.

Re: Three Ring Albums
Thanks for all the replies! I have to stop being so hesitant over the three rings binders. I have an AC one that I use for organizing and holding my layouts until there are enough for a full album and then I can move them over to the postbound book at one time. Since I only put one layout per sheet -- the better to organize -- the pages seem kind of slippery when I turn them (like they would flop over if the book was standing upright.) I'm afraid of them not standing straight when the book is on the shelf as well as people having a hard time flipping through them. However, it probably only seems that way because of the way I am using it.

Re: Three Ring Albums
I'll chime in to say that they stand up pretty well on a shelf too...better than my post bound did because I'm an over stuffer. The post bound always had to have something to lean against or they would fall over. With the 3ring, you can broaden the open end so it sits more boxlike. I even have a few of them lined up on my stereo speaker in the living room!

The page protectors are slick, but not flimsy. Once you load a page into it...it's plenty sturdy.

That's why I don't do 3 ring. I have too many 2-pagers and I like them to fit together exactly.
