came with two cartridges and was wondering if anyone has any suggestion of what the best cartridges to buy next would be. I am new to the machine but can't wait to use it with scrapbooking and home decor.

someone on this board suggested Lyrical Letters over the holidays and I bought it and love it - very versatile for font
Just one There are a lot of fantastic ones. As far as fonts maybe Opposites attract or Plantin Schoolbook. I got those in my first 10 carts and I reallu use the crap of em.

I have ALL MIXED UP and have used it alot. It is a hard choice to make. Good luck choosing.
i absolutely love Plantin Schoolbook, George and basic shapes, i have also used wild card a bunch of times.
Congratulations! I like Bags, Tags, Boxes and More.
You may want to hold off on buying font cartridges and look into using the Sure Cuts A Lot or the Make the Cut program on your computer with the Cricut. Those programs let you use your Cricut to cut any font that is on your computer, so you don't have to buy font cartridges. Big money-saver, if you are comfortable using the computer. I also am new to the Cricut and am going slow with the new cartridges until I get comfortable using it and try one of the above programs (there are free trial downloads).

I have SCAL and love it. You can use any font or dingbat with it. The best thing is you can also make your own cuts with Inkscape (free software). I use Photoshop to create my cuts, then convert it in Inkscape to a format SCAL can read. I use it all the time for my kids projects, cub scouts, and gifts. LOVE it.
