OMG-at a Michaels?

I have a Michaels by me but it is a fairly small store in Langhorne, PA...When I visit my BIL in Elmer NJ, we always eat out then go shopping in Vineland, NJ. He has a Michaels by him that is 3 times the size of mine. But until now they only had the classic 3 rows of scrappy stuff.
OMG! I went in there this weekend and they have redone the whole store! Fully half of the store is all scrappy stuff. I was in such scappy paradise! It looks like the pics I've seen of the CHA shows. Lovely racks of stuff...row after row...my whole wishlist was up there on the shelves. All new papers. I was stunned. I wanted to move in and live there forever! I spent way too much there. (BIL had given me a 40% coupon also) I can't wait to go back and visit again...and again...and again. LOL

And of course, I only buy stuff that I can't get at ACOT....

the michaels distribution center is literally 3 miles from my house. with that opportunity i can say our micheals just plain stinks. they have the most limited supplies! i have a bff who managed one in provo for awhile and she got all kinds of things we never saw here. she told me all their shipping labels had my town on it and it reminded her of me. it reminded me of how bad ours is managed if i have to drive 600 miles to go visit her to see things we don't have locally. ugh.

Ours is in the process of a redo, so I'm expecting it to be fabulous when they are done! When I went last week to look at the Friendly Forest collection (not available on ACOT! lol) their entire paper aisle was empty (they'd had everything in it on sale for 7 sheets per dollar!) and they were taking down some of the sticker section. Ours has always been decent - four or five rows plus some center islands devoted to scrappy stuff, but I'm hoping they get a bunch of new stuff in. I can't think of any other reason to empty out their paper aisle completely! Already they had an entire island filled with Prima stuff I'd never seen there before, and the MM Chloe's Closet line, which I love! Now I'm tempted to go back this week and see if they are done...

I realized how differently each store is run, when the manager of a store I liked, took over another store that was closer to me. Wow! What a difference. And the store that is by my mom's house is as big as the store near me, but doesnt have half the stuff. After Christmas, the place looked like it was going out of business. There just was nothing in it. Wierd!

How fun for you!! We don't have a Michael's close by. The nearest one doesn't seem to have much of what I'm looking for anyway. Maybe they are changing that!

I buy most of my goodies from ACOt; however, if I'm out of adhesive or some other little thing I definitely will go to Michaels for those goodies. I just like to go and look - I get some amazing ideas from just walking through the store without even buying anything!

i tend to avoid the large chain stores as if they have the plague. most are dirty and unorganized. the sales staff are rarely craft people who couldn't answer a question to save their life. and the local ones have had the same product for about a century. if i want the new items i either have to drive about 100 miles to an awesome not-so-lss or i buy online.

I like Michaels too. And Hobby Lobby. But ACOT is my fave because I can shop in my underwear.

Our M's looks like it might be going under. They have cut the scrap paper section in half. They don't appear to be restocking. The don't even carry Stickles and other high demand products. I'll be very dissapointed if they do not keep up with the other stores and demands of their customers.

The only thing I don't like about Michaels is the quality of paper. The paper and slabs there are a lighter weight than I like. The may sell the same designs that you can get here at ACOT but the quality here or at an LSS, IMO, is better.
Can't stand anything less than 65lb cardstock!
But if I can get a good deal on punches and albums I'm there!
