Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
Do any of you have one of those huge tape runner gun things?  The ones that look like the tagger guns people that work at grocery stores use.  I'm thinking about getting one.  Do you guys think it was worth the price?  Continuously buying adhesive is taking me to bank...  Well, it would take me to the bank if I had enough money to buy a subway token...

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
I don't have one but we had a long discussion about them about a month or two ago.  Pam and Laura Fiore both have them and it sounds like they are worth the price.  You save tons of money in the long run on refills but the initial investment will run $40-50 depending on what you get.  I will check my bookmarks to see if I saved the thread (I thought I did).  You can always ask them more specific questions.

I really want to get one!!!

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
Leslie,  LMK where you buy the gun from.  Laura said this site has the best prices on refills and they do look cheap.  They also sell the guns.  When I finally do get one, I was planning on buying it from there.  I am guessing my initial investment would be around $60 for the gun and some refills but I know it would last for awhile.

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
Yeah, Laura is right.  That place has the best prices.  They're around $39 for either the ATG 700 or the ATG 714.  It appears that that is even cheaper than the ones on ebay right now.  Which one do you think you'll get?  I think I might get the ATG 700 and start out with 1/2 inch tape...

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
Everyone that I asked recommended the 1/4".  I think most of my adhesive I use now is all 1/4" and this is supposed to be much stonger of a bond.  BUT, I think you can buy an adapter for the 1/2" to make it utilize the 1/4" refills.  You can't buy the 1/4" gun and go bigger.

I plan on getting the 1/4" when I do buy it.  I don't think I will ever use the 1/2" tape.

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
I'm a believer in these things. Its actually about the size of the big bite(cropadile). I buy a pack of 6 refills every 6 months or so. so I pay about 12$ for adhesive every half a year, its a huge difference than before when I was buying refils at WM. and this stuff holds up. It is acid free. I've even seen some people alter their ATG, I still need too. I think it will help at crops. I know a ton of people that have them and all love them. Yes they are bigger than the normal little one but you grow use to it rather quickly. I have the 714, I was use to the 1/4 inch little ones so I thought I would stay with that size glad I did. I use it for ribbon and other small things having the smaller size.

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
Leslie, I LOVE my ATG gun!!

I have the 714...it's the 1/4 inch tape...and it's perfect for ribbon and little things as well as the big stuff. I think you pay more for the 1/2" tape, and wouldn't be able to use it when you have narrow trims, so you may want to rethink it. That baby sticks EVERYTHING, so make sure you lay it down where you want it the first time!

Actually, there is one thing I've had to resort to the wet glue on...felt. That doesn't want to stick with anything but the wet stuff. For everything else, I use the tape runner!

I have one - the 1/4 inch one - and I got it from Framing Supplies. I love love love it! It is big, but it is light and lots of fun to use. AND it is almost impossible to lose on your desk under your stuff - LOL! Seriously, that might be the best feature!

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
Ok, I guess I should get the 1/4 inch one.  I was thinking I wanted the larger one just because I like to use ALOT of adhesive.  My biggest fear is that my layouts will fall apart by next year.  But I do like the idea of applying the adhesive to ribbons...

The 1/4 inch one will be fine.    I've even used it on some metal and it was fine.

But be where you want to lay things down because once it's down it stays down!

Re: Humongous Tape Runner Thingees
I love mine, and I have the 714 as well.  I have been scrapping a LOT lately, and just changed the refill for the first time.  It seriously is a money saver in the long run.  I paid $40 for it and 4 refills, but my friend has a framing business and I think I got a deal (plus she had it shipped with her other things, so I didn't have to pay for that).
