I have found the perfect paper to go with a great picture of Ryan. It is a new line from Scrapworks, called Magpie. I have only found it a few places, and luckily that have it here. So I add it to my cart with a pack of stickers, and excitedly get ready to check out. Until I see shipping is 6.70. I know that the PO rates went up, but this just stinks.

I also want some stamps that ACOT doesnt have and some Maya road stuff too. I hate that I cant get everything at one place. I know have 3 different carts at differest stores, all to get the things I want.

Dont you hate it when you cant get everything you want!

Ok whine over. Off to add more to my cart to make it worth my while

Well girls I can tell you its not gonna get better. We ship UPS and FEDEX at work and because of gas prices they keep going up. Until the gas prices get better (roflao) its gonna be that way.

there are a couple well known sites that do flat rate shipping for 6.99 or free shipping with a 75 dollar order.  I tend to shop all at once and get free shipping myself.

Unless I am just dying for a product, I order from ACOT. I dunno about the rest of you, but we can't afford to pay $10 shipping from the 5 different places to get all the scrappy stuff I want. :(

I wish more places would offer a Free Shipping option if you spend a certain amount. That would get more business from me for sure!

I guess I don't mind shipping too much since there is almost nowhere around here to get good scrappping stuff. I would have to drive a long way and I just think of shipping verses gas right now.

I'm with pegster, my closest scrap store is 30 mins and gas is just too much... I've been trying to learn to use my stash!

That is one HUGE advantage of digital scrapbooking.  There are never any shipping costs and the item is always available as long as you see it on the site.

With LSSs going out of business left and right, it's hard to find stuff even in as big a place the DFW Metroplex.  Michaels and Hobby Lobby carry only so much, although around here they're improving.

You are so right! Digi scrapping has a lot of benefits, and that is just one of them. It was the same for me - no local LSS to run out to, so I was doing most of my scrappy shopping online. Now I can just use paypal, download, and I'm all set! I've always been an instant gratification person anyway! :winkb:

You know, digi scrappers always say that is value of scrapping digitally but really it's apples and oranges. There are other costs involved with digital scrapping too and it truly isn't for every one.

A good solution is for online scrap stores to have an option for smaller orders that they know aren't going to cost the full amount of shipping. There are times that I would order more frequently and a lot more smaller items if I knew I didn't have to pay the larger amout of shipping. For example, an under 1 lb option. I know that there are costs involved such as envies, etc., but the value of having more orders and a better, more loyal customer base just might make it worth it.

I live in the middle of no where, literally, and the only thing I have near by is a Hobby Lobby, which is nice but an answer for every thing. I do 95% of my shopping online and have become very savvy and picky about where and what I shop over the last 10 years.

You're right, M'Lee. The cost for digi scrapping comes from having to print your pages. If you don't have a 12x12 printer - and I don't - then you have to have someone print your layouts. Unfortunately for me, there are no stores in my area that will print anything 12x12, not even Office Max. So I have to send it out, and pay shipping and everything. Which is why I only have a handful of printed LOs and stacks of computer disks full of them.

I guess you save in one area, and spend in another, regardless of what you're doing.

Themom, I wasn't implying that you always save money with digital scrapbooking, nor was I saying that anyone should move to digi for that reason.  The original post was talking about shipping costs and the availability of items.  As Mommybruno said, there are other costs associated with digi, including buying a program and printing out LOs.

I used to shop at an online store (it's out of business now) that offered shipping of just small items for a nominal fee (like $1.50) but if paper was involved it had to be shipped Priority Mail so that it wouldn't get banged up.  That was a very good deal.  I've also shopped at an online store that has daily specials.  They offer shipping whereby, if you requested it, your order is held for up to a week.  Your credit card is charged everytime you place an order but it's not charged for shipping until the week ends (or you tell them to ship before that).  This way you get one package and pay just one time for shipping of all the individual orders.

www.allthatscraps.com has free shipping on orders over $10.00.  Unfornately they don't carry the amount of things like acot does. But I have used them a few times for things out of stock elsewhere and like them.
