I am sorry TG is a stressful holiday and has had many bad connotations with it. Maybe you start a new tradition since it is downsized and go out or cater in?trainmom wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 10:51 amGood luck with all of that Barb.
I have another day with not much on the agenda. I started out in my craft room but I have multiple things drying so I think I need to take a break. I have 3 things mid-way done which is a lot for me. if I start yet another page, I will lose my train of thought.
Weather is a bit cold here today also, I'm sure I will walk somewhere.
I've started thinking about thanksgiving menu. I don't like any of the traditional foods but my family does and expects them so I find the whole menu thing quite stressful. Add to that the fact that we are only 2 generations this year which makes it hard. I have an old uncle I would like to invite but I'm not sure he can get here even if he wants to come. I like the idea of thanksgiving very much but thinking about it is very stressful this year.
Anyway, enough whining, have a great day everyone!

Another busy work day yesterday but not stressful. Up early again today and went on my walk, threw bed sheets in the washer and uploaded a couple of fixes to the server before my client's staff start accessing the program. Finished off some Christmas shopping for the nephews yesterday and today. Now I just wait for things to arrive and who knows, might start wrapping things. Who knows!
I'll take a break from work at 11am to start getting ready. The DAR ladies invited me to their monthly casual lunch again, so I'm going to that at noon. Then back home to work.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Thanks Susan. It was, and super yummy too.

Have a meeting this afternoon with my sister regarding my mom, and while I’m in the area I have some returns to make at a few stores. Slowly catching up here on the boards. Closed out one challenge yesterday and will work on closing out the other one today. Plus have some things that need to be done around the house. Still catching up here too. The sun is shining but it’s chilly and windy. Only 42 right now with a wind chill of 36. Winter jacket and ankle boots are now in use.
Have a great day Cherries.
So many hugs Barb. I know all of this is difficult and very stressful. Then to compound it with cold weather all of a sudden doesn't help! BOO. I hope you can come home and get cozy soon!

{{{HUGS}}} Barb! The winter chill has arrived here too. Make a list of the things you need to do and as you complete them mark them off. It will help a lot to see how much you have accomplished. Continuing to pray for you.

You amazing Cherries are part of that, because your love and support makes everyday extra awesome, and you've truly been there for me during some super stressful times the last few years!
I have a grateful heart!
That’s a milestone!! You go, girl!!

Louise, the holidays and any kind of family gathering are very stressful. I try to focus on the positive aspects. Maybe you could fix something for yourself that you could eat. And as you’re making and serving the other foods think about the family being together and enjoying that. {{{HUGS}}}

I was going to suggest this, too. As our holiday has changed with the passing of our grandparents, parents (DH's), and aunts/uncles, we have adjusted our menus. One year, we even had an all-appetizer meal, since we had so many yummy appetizers that we would be too full for dinner, anyway. Sending hugs, because I know how hard those "first" holidays are.blbabe1234 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 11:54 amtrainmom wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 10:51 amGood luck with all of that Barb.

I'm sorry Thanksgiving is stressful, especially the menu. Maybe with fewer people this year, you can downsize the dishes? Maybe make a variation of a "traditional" dish you don't like for something you do like. As I've gotten older and started hosting Thanksgiving since 2019 (we used to go to my grandparents house in the 90s and early 2000s, then moving it to my aunt's ranch house in late 2010 until 2018), DH and I as well as my brother and SIL, we keep changing things up. I don't think we've had the exact same thing each time. I also delegate too. This year, DH will smoke the turkey. I'll make garlic mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and heat up rolls. My SIL makes the stuffing (she uses Stove Top, which is fine by me...not a fan of traditional homemade stuffing...always too dry), green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. Our side dishes keep changing. We all just go with the flow. All we care about is we enjoy each other's company.

Laura, I LOVE your layout! Especially the border at the top! How did you do that?!
Charleneanne wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2024 12:35 pmHowdy. Boy I am still tired and achy from yesterday but it was worth it. All 3 grandkids even the sulky 16 year old. Shopping in Cocoa Village, gawking at the big Disney cruise ships in the harbor up close, spending lots of $$ in Ron Jon’s, and playing in the surf at Cocoa Beach. Nothing rest of the week though but DGD basketball game Saturday.
and yeah I’m already planning Thanksgiving dinner in my head too. So few of us anymore and my 55 year old YDS is the youngest one at the table. I fix traditional dinner, turkey, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, blk olives and pie. Instead of hot veggies or salad I put a plate of various raw veggies/ bottles of salad dressing.
and then there’s Christmas. I’ve ordered one Christmas gift. That’s it! But I have accumulated a lengthy list from the grandkids of what they want! lol. I don’t decorate till Black Friday or get a tree till about two weeks before Christmas. Oh well, I’ve got nothing but time. lol
have a wicked good Wednesday!
Sounds like you all had a fun day yesterday!!! I had to lol at the sulky 16 year old even having fun. Have fun shopping for the grands!

Hey Cherries! I found out why I’ve been feeling so icky lately. I have a UTI… It’s been ages since I had one and I wasn’t sure but was told that as we get older our symptoms change. I know that a lot of older women can have serious issues with these and I didn’t want to wait. I’m glad I went in! So I’m on antibiotics and trying to take it easy. NOT what I needed right now! But I must deal with it.
Youngest stepson went back to Ketchikan on the ferry this morning so it’s back to just us two. Steve is working hard to get the house set up to move into. The forecast from now until after Christmas is freezing or below. I told him I can’t take another winter living in this cabin (8 is ENOUGH!!!) so we will find a way to make things work (especially water) on a temporary basis until springtime when it thaws. At least that way I can help him more than I can right now!
So that’s my week so far. I need to finish my cards and I need to start the gift albums too. I’m glad I started when I did but I’m nowhere near as ahead as I thought I was. Lol! At least those things don’t take a lot of energy!
