We are getting some much needed rain today!  Very exciting because we are in desperate need of it.  Our grass has been browned out for more than a month.  It's a soft, gentle rain and I hope it lasts all day.  Just finished up the BF challenge sketch.  This is the first LO this month.  I've been so busy with other things that I totally lost track of the fact this is the last week of September already.  I hope to get photos and get it posted today.

Hey Cherries. Nothing on my agenda today other than laundry. I really need to get in my scrap room and start cleaning it up. Maybe today will be the day it actually gets done. We shall see. lol.

Have a great day Cherries.
Cleaning the scrap space after a project seems like a major chore to me!  LOL!

Good morning

Hope you get your room cleaned up, Barb.

I have a feeling today is going to be long and boring.  As long as there is no drama, it's all good.  It just seems like everyone is blah today.  Only 6 - 1/2 hours to go...

I forgot Jason has a therapy session today at 5:00, so at least I get to leave a half hour earlier.

I ended up doing next to nothing yesterday and last night.  Which resulted in me gaining a pound this week...damn...
I really need to put my mind into getting this done!  Hubby cleared out room in the garage, so I can and should start using the treadmill this week.

I organized some of my 12x12 papers.  What a task!  It's so difficult figuring out how to do it - my manufacturer? Collection? Colors? Theme?  ugh!!!
Oh well,  at least while I am sorting thru it all, I am finding new things...lol

have a great day!

I am obsessed with keeping my collections together and organized by mfg.  Sad...LOL!  When I look at a photo, I can tell what kind of papers I want to use.  Vintage, brights, etc.  Then I know which mfg. to choose for them.  I do mix mfgs. at times, but usually stay with one when doing a LO but combine the mfg's. collections.

Good morning cherries. Had another busy weekend - what's new? I've been so busy with work during the week, and busy on the weekends that I either (a) don't make it on here or (b) make it on here but who wants to hear about how busy I am, what I've gotten done, etc.

Anywho.....

When I'm not working or cleaning or running errands, I've been working on my DAR application. A distant cousin messaged me via Ancestry about 3 weeks ago and asked if I was a member. I stated no, but have always been interested but didn't know if I had all the correct documentation for proof of lineage. They need first 3-4 generations of birth/marriage/death certificates. I have my birth certificate, and my mother's death. But because I'm the product of a one night stand, there's no way I'd have my mother and my bio father's marriage certificate. But since I'm using my mother's line (via her maternal grandfather's line), they don't care if my mother and bio father never married. Nor do they care that the name of father on my BC is blank. Cool beans...makes it easy. So I submitted all of those documents to the local branch here in Corpus Christi. They meet once a month in Sept thru May, so I was invited to their first meeting of the month. Which happened to be a luncheon this past Saturday in Sinton. I went and met a bunch of really nice ladies. Heard about all the events they do and the regular meetings are on the 3rd Friday from 2pm to 3:30pm. They know I work, however, Friday afternoons are more doable as my client closes her doors early (between 2 and 3pm). They also get together once a month for a casual lunch, which I'm invited too. I think that is set for Oct 7th.

So on Saturday, I did a couple of loads of laundry, then showered, got ready, and left. Got home a little after 2pm. Then I did 2 more loads of laundry and just relaxed with DH. Yesterday, I washed doggie blankets/beds from my office and scrap room and vacuumed my office and scrap room. I've got my 2 scrappy friends coming over this weekend for our last crop of the year so I needed to get things ready and cleaned up.

I also worked on gathering more documents and if I can't easily find them in Ancestry.com or FamilySearch.org, then I need to contact either the County Clerk for that state or their State archives. I was gathering contact information for some of those items and was planning on calling today but the lady who assists in the DAR application got back to me and she said that she was able to find documents that I couldn't so that's very helpful. I just need to concentrate on my 4th great grandparents and then my 5th great grandparents. I don't need much for my 6th great grandparents as my 6th great grandfather is the DAR approved ancestor.

I'm off to get started on work. Have a great day cherries.

Good morning. We had a long exhausting weekend.  We drove out to the Hamptons in Long Island where my in-laws had a place  so we could go through their stuff and take things we wanted. it's quite a long drive with bad traffic but it would have been worse in the summer with beach traffic so we wanted until now. Of course it was very emotional and we would have liked to take more things but our car was completely full. You may remember my MIL as an artist so we took a lot of oil paintings which take up save in the car but are the most important things to keep, I think. So that sas emotionally and physically exhausting. We may go back at some point, but we may not have to.

Today is just busy, I had a doctor's appointment in the morning, then I'm playing bridge in the afternoon, and I would like to do some laundry and/or start on the art journal in the late afternoon.

Have a great day!

Oh Louise! I know those emotions. Great big {{{HUGS}}} to you both. I hope your bridge game goes well for you and helps get your mind off of things.

That is awesome, Brandi!  I have a lot of genealogy research that I've done over the years.  I have a GGGgrandfather buried in Battleground National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.  He was killed at the Battle of Fort Stevens defending the white house with Lincoln watching the battle.  Good luck with your application.

Morning.  I’m not optimistic about today. lol weather folks back to predicting 99 today and 100 tomorrow!  Was sick all weekend so today is catch up day around here.  Laundry, sweeping, dusting and plus all those errands I never got to.  And I need to make a bday card for younger DS’s birthday this week as well. Dang! 😳

and to make things worse my post office lost another of my packages with scrappy stuff in it!  They still don’t show a location as to where it went when it left the big postal sorting center about 20 miles from me, but it says will b delivered today.  But of course it said all day Saturday that it would b delivered that day as well!  And lots of scrappy places send ups sure post which is modern day equivalent of the pony express and when it gets to our area, ups gives it to usps to actually deliver!!!   Dang. lol 😝

oh well lol. Have a merry Monday

Oh Charleneanne! I know how frustrating it is when the carrier hands things over to the post office!!! FedEx does that to us too. It gets to Anchorage and is transferred over to the post office and there’s no way to track it after that. It took a month for a box to arrive here from Anchorage! I hope your package arrives soon!!!!

Sorry you were sick. Hopefully you’re feeling better now. And hope the weather cools off for good soon!

Hey Cherries 😊
It's STILL summer, according to our weather! We're not really having a lot of the pretty fall colors, because we've had a wet but hot season so far. I guess that's why lol boo! 🤣
I called in to work yesterday - I had some belly trouble but also needed the day off.
My mom has been sick, and some of it may be because she quit taking her thyroid meds. For no reason. IDK what to think. Hopefully she'll get back in her meds and be okay. It's kind of iffy right now.
I'm art journaling and scrappin' today! Tawanda to the rest of it right now! 😂 I JUST need to be creative and relaxed!
Please say a prayer for my mom and my family. It's a bit stressful right now.
Stay blessed Cherries 🍒 ❤️ 😊

{{{HUGS}}} for you and your mom Holly! I’m praying for her. Take it easy and do what you think will take your mind off things. Hope she’s better really soon!!!

Good afternoon!  We got home yesterday afternoon, and we are both still exhausted. I've started working on a layout and hopefully I'll find more energy tomorrow after doing laundry and putting suitcases away. And hopefully by tomorrow, I'll have the energy to read everyone's messages and respond.
Oh Chris! You’ve both been through so much lately! Praying the results are good news!!!

That is so frustrating!  I thought the UPS sure post was actually the post office.  There is confusion between United Parcel Service and United Postal Service.  I never know which one is actually delivering until it gets here.  I hope it arrives today.

Brandy, we love hearing about your days. The DAR sounds like a lot of fun! In the 1970s one of my dad’s cousins did a lot of research on her family and she’d only gone back into the last year of the war and said we qualified for 5 stars! I’ve got her information and I’ve done searches for her but I haven’t found her yet. I probably need to join Ancestry…  Maybe someday.

On my mom’s side one of her sisters and her daughter went way back into the 1600s on that side of the family. She gave me all of that information before we moved to Alaska because I was really the only one interested in all of that. I’m looking forward to really getting into it when we move and get settled!

Hope this week is a bit easier for you!!!

That's really cool. I joined Ancestry back in 2012 because I wanted to find out more info on my mother's mom. She passed away 50 years ago at the age of 35 and her grandparents didn't approve of my grandfather. They came from money, and my grandfather was a child of immagrants and born/raised on a farm. But she married him anyways. So I traced that line pretty far. Then my MIL got me an Ancestry DNA kit because she KNEW I wanted to know if I could find my paternal family. My BC shows a blank for father's name, and my mother and her siblings NEVER talked about it, even after I pressed. Her aunts didn't want nothing to do with her, nor I for that matter. Right before my mother passed away, finally got a decent hint on DNA. Found a 1st cousin once removed on my father's side. Chatted her up and w/in 3 months, found out who my bio father was/is. I'm a product of a one night stand...that's why nobody knew who my bio father was. LOL.

I find geneology very very interesting. I've got tons of very interesting ancestors - from an AR patriot to a signer of the Mayflower Compact; from a Civil War vet to a veteran of War of 1812. Funny though, in the last 4-6 weeks, I've had far distant cousins reach out to me asking if I'm a member of DAR, or Colonial Dames XVII Century. There's also other societies that they think I qualify for: Daughters of War of 1812; Daughters of the Republic of Texas and even First Families of Louisiana. My head was spinning of course and I was like...slow y'all's roll. ONE person at a time. ONE society at a time. Same distant cousin who is helping me with DAR asked about the Colonial Dames XVII Century. I was like...let me get into DAR first...then we will work on the next one. She's just sooo excited. And I get it. But still. I'm not retired and I'm already a busy person. The work you have to put in to gather documents can be exhausting too.

And now that I think about it....if I ever want to persue the paternal side, I will definetly need to get my birth certificate updated with my bio dad's name on it. And a copy of HIS birth certificate. So yeah...ONE ancestor at a TIME pooples!

Hey Cherries! We’re in the second part  of the weekend storm. It’s nasty in Ketchikan and Craig but we don’t have any wind at all. Just a lot of rain. It’s that time of year!

I took yesterday off. I was tired and took a nice nap. When I got up we fixed dinner shrimp and a salad! Then I worked on another layout. I’ll probably take today off too. Did NOT want to get up this morning. Lol!

My oldest grandson Noah and my brother Bill moved out of my DD’s house and got their own place. I’m glad for everyone but it’s a big change!  Noah will be 21 in March so it’s time for him to be out of the house. And Bill has really done well there since he moved there about 3 years ago after he lost everything in a fire. So I’m happy for them and I hope it all works out!

Thats it from here. Hope you’re all having a good day!
