Re: Oddball
I was very into Prima flowers when I was doing the album about my grandmother. I especially hoarded the Innoscence Collection. Most of the time I kept them their natural ivory color, but on some I painted them with Shimmerz or Smooch. Here are some pages where I used them. And yes the pages ARE bulky.

Image

Image

This one uses the silver and gold Primas that come in a tin. I mixed them with Bazzill flowers that matched their card stock.

Image

Here's one that I painted with Shimmerz and then tipped the tops of the stamen with dark Smooch ink.

These are just some of the pages from my double spreads. There's more in my gallery.

Barb, those are just amazing!!!  I'm not much into Prima (think they are too expensive) but I do like their wood veneer stuff.

Re: Oddball
I've seen some really beautiful work done with Prima but not by me, sadly. I'd love to change that!

Yes, some of the flowers are bulky but when I saw theseImage
tonight, I saw my dear grandaughters all dressed up in sweet Easter outfits! Prima has some new stuff and new looks and I'm liking a lot that I see.

I'm an oddball, too, in that I don't like Tim Holtz's stuff. I mean, I have some ink pads and markers, but I don't like Distress Stickles, or much of anything else his name is on. It's especially odd since I love vintage stuff, but I'm just missing something when it comes to 99% of his stuff.

Hrm...I've seen some pretty prima paper, and I like the plain prima paper flowers, but I don't use them as much as most. Still, I know I've got some layouts and cards around here somewhere...I'll have to look...

Simple Stories is UBER popular with the people who do Project Life and all the versions of it. People like Project Life from American Crafts and Becky Higgins. I hate Project Life. I got a box of cards and they were the ugliest things I have ever seen. Someone with no talent at all made this set. UGLY. I don't even know which one it was. I have like 10,000 of these horrible cards that I hate with a passion! They are the worst quality and the slip in and out of the page protector pockets.

OMG I have wanted to say that for so long. I am sorry. I know it is so popular. I am truly not trying to pick a fight with anyone or offend anyone who scraps this way, I mean it's still scrapbooking, right? It's still a good thing. Always has been always will be. This is just for me. I tried it and hated it.

Again I am sorry. I hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings. ImageImage I know people are very proud of their scrapbooking but it just isn't for me.

But I love YOU!!! Image

I have lots of Prima flowers but I hardly ever use them. They were from when I first started scrapping. I use them occasionally on cards. Now their wood veneers I am loving and have bought several packs of those.

Here are a couple of my own projects that use Prima flowers

ohhhhh these are just simply STUNNING!!! I wish that I was good at flowers!! The dimension on that first one is awesomely insane!! Thanks for showing me Darlene!!! So, you picking up any of the new flowers? Looks to be like there is a lot!!
Thank you Sus! Yes I definitely hope to pick up some of the new flowers for sure. Although I do like the kind in the top layout mostly as they are much more versatile- you can use them on just about any layout regardless of the colors of the papers

Here's a couple of mine using the Prima Wishes & Dreams line.

See that is what I am talking about! I did not even see this line when it came in the shop and I love it. Why am I not surprised it is Deanna that "made me do it" ? ImageImageImageImage

I don't like the Project Life stuff either. Just doesn't appeal to me. That's the beauty of scrapping....there's a style for everyone! And my grandmother had a nurse when she was ill that taught my brother something that has become a bit of a family legend. She was a black woman, and my brother had never seen a black person before (he was only 3, and this was in the 1940's). He asked her why her skin was a different color. She didn't say anything initially, but took him outside as it was spring and the flowers were all in bloom. She asked him what he would think if all the colors were the same. He said it wouldn't be very pretty. She said God made us all that way, all a little different, so we can make the world a prettier place. That stuck...and I think of scrapping that way too. How boring and not very pretty it would be if we all liked the same things!

I know! I'm a total freak! I don't know if I'm missing something in my DNA or what. I was at a scrapbooking event he was attending and it was like a rock star entered the room. People squealing and cheering and freaking out and I could only manage to feel like, "meh." I'm kind of jealous. It looked like they were having a blast. I just can't see it. I like 7 Gypsies and they've got some similarity, I like Ranger, too, but there's just some element to his style that doesn't work for me. Go figure. To each her own, huh?

Re: Oddball
Prima to me screams vintage (though, their stamps and a few other things don't fit that mold) and it's nowhere near my style.  I also find them to be incredibly feminine and again, not my style.  So, I guess I'm an oddball, too.

Oooh, I also don't like much TH stuff, either!!  I find it also very vintage.  I love his tools and distress ink, but the dies, embellishments, paper, etc...not me at all!!

Don't feel bad, I don't like ANYTHING Tim Holtz either. But then again I'm not into vintage.

I don't usually like Prima either, I only have one set of the wooden birds.  The patters just don't appeal to me.  The same with most Tim Holtz, except for the Distress inks and some of the other tools and Glossy accents, which I love.

Re: Oddball
Elannah I don't like PL stuff either!!  And the thing that really irks me about it's popularity is that Creative Memories had albums with that style/size of slide-in sleeve and packs of inserts (4x6 photo mats, smaller dec. cards & journaling strips) waaaaay before Becky's stuff started showing up everywhere!  I always thought it was an awesome idea for people with (perceived) less time/creativity.  But CM went out of business and we know how much $$ she's got to have by now... guess it's all in the marketing, or something!!

Back to Sus & Prima... Sus I went to my Gallery and filtered by things I'd tagged with Prima, and got... 116 entries!!!  I don't think you want me to show them all here, lol.  I'll see if I can pick some favorites!

I adore these newer burlap flowers (and thanks to Shar for the Take 2 challenge that got me to buy burlap, lol!):

Image

I have some of the crocheted ones which are cool, and this orange one was from a neat set that's fairly flat though dual-layered & already have the bling center!

Image

This was one of the first times I used the bulkier flowers - don't do many wedding layouts & figured it called for them!

Image

Don't forget Prima also has bling, journaling stickers, and chipboard!!  In this one the dress stand chip and all the flowers (I think) are Prima:
