I think most of this has come to light in the past 6 months. I have no idea on dates for the collections you mentioned. I don't typically buy their papers.stinkerbelle wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 3:09 pmit came out at the same time as vboo's Bright & Bold, Shimelle's Reasons to Smile, etc. so not super oldVickiR wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:52 amInteresting...is it dated? There is some BB in the ACOT store too but no idea when it was released.stinkerbelle wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:43 amBo Bunny has this collection out. it's currently at Joanns as part of the Designer Destination or whatever they call it. i used a few sheets of it here
I buy a ton of Vicki Boutin collections so I'm happy she found a new home with 49 and Market.
I think the major customer is likely Tuesday Morning (stores closed in July 2023). Almost all TM's craft items were American Crafts and Echo Park. Echo Park pivoted and started doing warehouse sales, but AC hasn't done that. We'll have to wait and see, but I hope they retrench and become healthy again. I will support them whenever I can! I love Paige and Shimelle and even the new designers, Bea especially!
As a lot of companies do, American Crafts received financial help from investors but eventually the original owners completely lost ownership in early 2024 to HIG. In early 2024 HIG then started hiring people and putting people into positions where they didn’t belong and who didn’t understand the industry and the company started going south. During 2024 a lot of the people who built, designed and worked at AC for years and years left. Anyone who was still working there by the end of the year was just holding onto a job. In early 2025 a new deal was made with another company effectively ending American Crafts as we all know it. A few brands will still carry on but it will never be the same.
You must be out near me and Lancaster/Paradise/Bird in Hand. I love that Basic Grey and Moda got together. I have also seen some older Cosmo Cricket and My Minds Eye in fabric.VickiR wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 6:30 pmI love HL fabrics too, Joyce. We also have a local store called Good's that has amazing fabric. Great selection and some of it is Moda/Basic Grey. It's an Amish community so I'm sure that's why the fabric inventory is so extensive.JAire wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 6:27 pmVery interesting information, ladies!
As for Joann's I don't care much for Park Lane products and the only thing from them I bought was a pack of envelops I really needed. Joann's fabrics are not good quality, Hobby Lobby fabrics are higher and some of the Hobby Lobby are actually "quilt shop" brands. There is very little fabric I buy from Joann's - not putting that quality into my quilts usually.
The pillow cases I posted recently used Hobby Lobby sold fabric - Northcott. Even the Hobby Lobby brand is quite nice.

New London PA, to be exact. Quaryville has that dairy that sells ice cream that is really good, right?

VickiR wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 10:09 amI do miss AC Moore. Spent a lot of time there with my mom buying yarn. They had a great selection and she loved it there Also was a good place for stocking stuffers. They carried a lot of AC papers. I believe the former owners of AC Moore own another large crafting entity.trainmom wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2025 9:49 amThe Macy's here in Philly is closing, they are in a beautiful historic building so hopefully that will be preserved.
Would be a shame about Joanns as I go there sometimes to buy cardstock or adhesive if I don't have time to get a shipment from ACOT. I occasionally buy cake decorating or flower pots from Michaels but nothing related to paper crafting in several years.
Shame about AC, hopefully they'll figure something out.
I loved AC Moore so much that I took a job there on top of my full time job, probably about 15 years ago. Once I got to see the internal running of things I figured it would shut sooner rather than later. I ran their customer service desk, closed out registers, and saw how employees would pull fast ones on the company. That plus no accountability, like with their coupons. You could use a half off coupon, in say a tote that was $50, and when it was $25, you could use your employee discount, an additional 20% , taking it down to twenty dollars. It was like watching them give away the store. You were on an honor system to ring out your own stuff. Then to make matters worse, one gal who was an asst manager would buy things at half price and bring them back for a full price refund. So using the above example, the $20 tote was returned for $50. I brought what they were doing to the managers attention, but nope, he said there's no law, or rules of the company preventing it. Swell. I quit shortly thereafter, but I knew most if not all were doing that. I decided bad for me to stay with people with no moral compass.

The store manager? Because 1. if you brought it to corporate I highly doubt they'd be of the same opinion. And 2. If this is the location/store management they were probably scamming/stealing from the company, too.
