menu ideas/ recipes needed for a fundraising crop
Celticrose and I are holding our 2nd crop to raise money for Relay for Life and are looking for ideas of what to serve for lunch and dinner.  What have you enjoyed eating at crops that you have attended?
What do you wish would have been served, (remember this is a fundraiser, no lobster or champagne).  Any recipes that  you would like to share would be appreciated!

Thanks, Cherries!

About how many people come to the crop?   Not sure what your food set up or eating area will be like but what about...
Theses could be done inexpensively

I went to a crop where they taco , taco salad fixing.
What a bout a Soup or Chili Bread bowl

I will continue to think.

I used to be indecisive; now I'm not sure.

I like the idea of a taco bar, or you could expand it and have baked potatoes--
Then have chili, taco stuff- they could add anything to their spuds. I haven't been to many crops at all where we didn't bring our own food or get take-out. I think anything you do would be good.

I always enjoy things like fruit salad and finger foods like small roll sandwiches, pigs in a blanket, mini quiches, raw veggies etc.......not too heavy but satisfying

Re: menu ideas/ recipes needed for a fundraising crop
I'm going to a crop tonight and tomorrow. After much discussion we all felt that what is lacking at most crops is breakfast. So I'm taking a hot eggs Benedict casserole I found on food.com. There's always donuts or danish but rarely something more, as my mom used to say "stick to your ribs" kind of food.

I've been served these foods at crops:

breakfast spread...bagels, fruit salad, cream cheeses
deli spread...3-4 meats & cheeses, some bread options, garden salad, macaroni salad
pizza
hot dogs in crescent rolls
pasta with sauce & garlic bread
at a larger day crop they coordinators ordered some trays from a local pizza place but served chicken parm, eggplant, pasta, etc.

If you end up ordering food, let the vendor know about your fundraising.  They will probably give you a discount.

These are all great ideas!, Please keep them coming!
Our Crop can't start until 10 so we are not serving breakfast although I would love the Eggs Benedict Casserole!!
We did serve lunch at our last crop., We did do meat and cheese trays, a garden salad and a pasta, spinach, and chicken salad (which everyone liked).
We have thought of meatballs and rigatoni for dinner but we're hoping to come up with something else to serve, too.

The crop will be held on Sat. June 6th, in Lansdale, Pa., We would love to have some Cherries come!

Oooh...let me know how this turns out!  I love the sound of it and may need the recipe.

Everyone has mentioned some great ideas!  Gives us things to think about. Let us know if you think of any more suggestions.

10:00 is not too late to serve brunch foods.  The eggs benedict or different quiches, fruit salad and muffins.  Layered breakfast casseroles.
Jan - trying to find my way

Jan - I literally made the suggestion to Lmcgill that maybe we do 'brunch' instead of just lunch., Mainly because I LOVE brunch myself (and know that I will likely forget to eat while setting up that morning).
