Laura Fiore wrote:How do you think I got here in the first place?

Magistical Memories sent me...and to be honest, I was scared to death of the "group" at the time. I'm glad I stuck around, but you have to know that as a group, you can be a little intimidating. If I didn't know and love y'all, I would have skipped long ago...so glad I didn't let anyone scare me away, because there are so many lovely, friendly people here.

I don't think we have to sugarcoat our feelings, but I also agree that if we aren't excited about what we see in a thread, sometimes we can just choose to ignore it. At least that way we aren't scaring away someone who could potentially be a great new friend.

I have just spent the last few minutes reading through this thread. I have been here for awhile and love all of you! But I admit to feeling a bit intimidated at first because you all are such a close knit group. For someone like myself who is actually kind of shy, it can especially feel that way. But I didn't take it personally and reminded myself that we are all unique individuals that make the world to round! And I personally love to be around people who are chatty and love to talk. I may not always have much to say, but I do enjoy listening/reading what you all have to say!
And like Laura said...I am so glad I stuck around and didn't let you all scare me away!!! I also agree with the rest of her thoughts on how to try to be a little thoughtful of how we respond to people sometimes. I would hate to scare people away. Some of the gals from the Webster DT are super sweet but I am afraid they won't come back after the thread that was started about them. I think ACOT is a great place to hang out and I would hate for us to get a reputation as being unwelcoming to new people. They all must start somewhere!

I see where Leslie and others of you are coming from. It is frustrating when someone just shows up here and "pimps" there stuff. But as a DT member we have requirements to post our stuff, contests, etc on various sites. I prefer to do it here since I already know you guys, but I do what these gals have done here at other sites because of my requirements. Does that make me a bad person? Not sure, but that is what I have been asked to do as part of my DT requirements. And the reality of it is that I don't have time to get to know everyone at every site I post my projects. And since I have a wonderful scrappy home here, I would prefer to spend the free time I do have here on ACOT! I guess my thought is that we want everyone to feel that way. That this is the place they WANT to be because it is the BEST place to be!!!

Ok...off my soap box! I almost said soup box! LOL!!!!

So how was the sex Leslie? Or did you go with the sock darning?!!!

For those who are interested, here is a link to the MM blog... no membership required to view it... ;)

http://magisticalmemories.blogspot.com/ ... lenge.html

I see that this has stirred up quite a hornets nest, so to speak. I appreciate all of the thoughtful private messages that i have recieved. I know that there are a lot of kind, thoughtful and sweet people on here. (Lesley, I imagine you could even one of them.) However, I can't hang out at a place where I was made to feel so unwelcomeand made a specticle of. It's just downright embarassing... I'm sure you all understand. There are tons of scrapbooking message boards out there... lots of which would welcome me and my posts... even 4 minutes after introducing myself... so it's there that i will go. Perhaps I will get to know some of you wonderful girls elsewhere.

I do think that it is a wonderful idea to have a special place for manufacturer challenges and contests. It would make uthem feel welcome to let you know about contests where you could win free goodies. And for those who ARE interested in them, they would know where to look! Just a thought...

I'm still right there with Leslie. Except for that whole "darn some socks" thing. No way would I be darning socks if the other option were on the table. :greenwinkb:

I just found out that ACOT is actively trying to get companies to come here and help promote their goodies here at ACOT-- which is really cool!!! What we have to take into consideration is these peeps have lots of places that they need to go get the word out and they might not be able to make tons of posts at every board they visit, BUT if we show them the true friendly nature of this board they might just want to stick around (LauraF :-D --Juliana :-D )--I mean really how could they resist our Cherry Charms?

Also, Kristin just told me that we will be setting up a forum for just this type of thing--which I think is a great idea! Kudos to the one who thought of it. :-D

Since she's just here to pimp out Magistical Memories, I don't think she'll ever read your response. She's probably only be back on ACOT the next time her blog needs traffic or something.

There are several talented women on ACOT that are on other design teams and activiely promote manufacturers. But guess what? They are active on this board and treat us like people, not future customers. For example, when RitaS wants me to go to the BoBunny blog, that's great. I know a few things about her, and I think she's a nice lady.

Nicely said Leslie!

Hey Leslie - thanks!! I think you are a nice lady too!!:inlove:

I do want to say Tina is a very nice lady. Several of us Cherries are on, or have been on, the Magistical Memories team. I actually LOVE their chipboard and gosh - if you have time to whip out a challenge layout it might be an easy peasy way to get some chipboard for free. Tina is just trying to fill in our shoes. Sadly, I had to put in my resignation for the MM chipboard last week as I realize I cannot work full time, sell Arbonne and grow my new business (of which I would love to become my FT job somday), AND still scrapbook for multiple DTs.

You may have noticed I have not pimped the BoB blog much as of late...don't want to risk stepping on anyone's toes here (again). BUT if ya'll are following my blog, you can see my BoBunny projects along with how-tos and ideas and tips. Eventually I get them posted in the gallery here, but its not instantaneous (because I have that FT job, ya know...)

I love BoBunny so much my heart skips a beat just thinking about the new releases, and Magistical Memories chipboard is pliable enough to do some fun things to. There are LOTS of projects in the Cherry gallery featuring both. So hey...yep - get to that challenge Cherries - IF you like contests and chances to win free stuff. Before I had so much of it - this was my way to build my stash - enter and win product! It's great if you are on a budget.

It's too bad this board was hard on Tina. She may have stuck around long enough discover that we are friendly bunch and would have wanted to join in on a more regular basis. I am one of the MM designers that encouraged the others to share their work here and they all know it is the only MB where I actually spend time chatting...the others are required galleries, but too big for my britches. This has always been a friendly site, granted - I do ignore some threads because I prefer to avoid heat;) , and I can always get a laugh - usually from Leslie's posts.

Hi Tina.

Welcome to the board. I hope you will join in on the activity here on the board to get the 'feel' of things.

Please understand that we have had, over the years, many who come by just to promote things but otherwise do not participate in the community. Given that, some folks feel that we're being used.

Participate in our group some more and you'll find you are very welcome.

Wow, I just had to put my two cents in here as this was such a rude post. Not a very welcoming community I would say.... I'm not at all sure how this offends you when it's a chance to win free chipboard!! Hello, free chipboard?? How is this "being used" exactly? I would be all over that instead of being negative and offensive. So really what you are saying is you are only welcome here if you post alot of chit chat? What exactly is the criteria for being in this club?? Forget it, I don't want to know.

Re: Do you love chipboard?
I've been here since Aug 2008 (on the mb) and still don't even know if you guys know who I am! But I just keep chatting my brains out. I like the simplicity of this board. It's really easy to navigate, and see all the new topics of discussion. You don't have to peel away at 20 layers of folders to finally find a new topic to read about. I know when i first started here, we had more opinionated people and more "action" on the board. Then it seemed like a bunch of people left and it got kinda quiet. And it just keeps getting quieter and quieter. So, I enjoy any newbies who want to pop in and give us something to look at or opportunities to win stuff! And I appreciate Kristin trying to make her store THE place to be to buy incredible scrappy supplies. I think it would be kind of hard for her to post a message on the board that says " okay girls, we are having company, please be on your best behavior. Remember, this is my message board, not yours, and I'm trying to run a business here. No fighting and BE NICE!"

It does kinda bother's me that people put stuff in the gallery, but don't post. Because i really want to know more about them and how they created their works of art, but if all they can do is give me the opportunity to view it, then that's fine too. I'm sure I can garner some inspiration from the layout as it is, but if they would share some of their tricks with us, it would be even better! And if i don't know them, then i don't feel inspired to leave love. I figure they really aren't here for love, but for advertisement, so I don't feel an obligation.

But what I think it comes down to is, "If you don't have something nice to say (or constructive), then don't say it at all." I really don't feel the need to get involved in every issue that comes up, because I figure that negativity breeds negativity. I'd rather be the positive post, but I felt that I just needed to put my 5cents in here. Be respectiful and play by the Golden Rule. We all want to have fun and benefit from the board, but this is an instrument to keep and boost sales for a store that is feeding families. And it can be eliminated if that purpose isn't served. Just saying.

I have been hesitant to say anything, because I really didn't want to get involved in drama. But I totally agree with what Teri has sad. Furthermore, I've participated in several of Magistical Memories challenges and contests over the last couple months and won one challenge and one contest! They've been nothing but nice to me and didn't require that I participate in their board before I could take part in their challenges. We've got quite a few Magistical girls here, probably more than most of us realize. I think we should try to treat new people as we would want to be treated if we were in their place and if they want to give us a shot at some great free product, take it! ;)
