Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
Here we go again for me.... I use CM trimmers. I have the straight, wavy and personal. I love love all three!

I really don't use all CM products....seems I do with the posts on albums, adhesive, and trimmers. I go through a blade about every six months on the straight trimmer. But I use it a lot! Even cropping pictures, which is why I think I go through blades pretty fast.

I still use my trusty 8" and 12" Fiskars personal timmers. If you tip the blade just a hair before the blade gets to the paper, you will get a clean cut. Also, of course, change the blade when the cuts get rough.

Still using my original Fiskars swing-out arm. Starting to cut funny on the end, so I'm heading to Michael's with my coupon for a new one this weekend.

I think I've used them all and just bought the 12x6 Tonic guillitone. It's not as light as i'd like it to be, but it cuts straight and clean. I hope that someone could make one that is light but can cut straight....now that'd be great. :-D

I'm also a user of the fabulous Making Memories trimmer. I absolutely love it, because of the grid lines. It is bulky for crops, but I always take it anyway. I also use the CM photo trimmer, I just can't live with out that. I might take the advice of some other ladies, and get a smaller one for crops. :)

purplewhale wrote:I have the cutterpede which is my general, go-to cutter. For me I seem to be able to measure my paper easier than the others I have. I have a Fiskars gray and orange one that's probably older than Moses, but I like it because I like the way you can cut the blade in a specific place on your paper--great for making windows. Then I have a Creative Memories that also does well for making windows. I also have a high-precision guillotine trimmer which I'll only use to cut a lot of paper...hate to lug that thing out.

Great idea for threads!

Hey me too, I love the "Moses" cutter, lol. Once it starts cutting funny, I just buy a new one, lol. I have a Cutterpede too, but I hate it and have only used it a handful of times.

not sure if i responded to this yet, but mine has to be the
MAKING MEMORIES Paper Trimmer, it is self-sharpening &
a space-saver (folds in half), and it comes with a magnetic
ruler to keep things in place, but most of all it cuts straight!

I like it but the little "lock" for the blade broke soon after I got it -no biggie really it doesn't effect anything unless I were to slide the blade all the down past the bottom it would slide off the track - still I should have returned it but I do like it - I like having the different blades for it.

that's what I have and love - and I broke my lock too!

That is about my 4th trimmer - I actually warped the cheaper versions because I must press to hard or something

This is very helpful. I'm looking into buying a new trimmer. I have a guillotene cutter, size 10" x 10" which making cutting my 12 x 12 papers very difficult. Looking into buying a 12 x 12. I'm off to the ACOT shop now to see what they have!
Blessings to all!!

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
i have fiskars and provocraft and purplecows.
i must say i love them all. too bad i don't have blade replacement for fiskar and provocraft. what i like about fiskar is i can measure and cut windows in the middle of the cardstock, which i cannot do with my purple cow. my purple cow cuts straight and it is very good for cutting edges or straight through.

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I´ve got a 6" Fiskars trimmer that I don´t like much. I have to change the blade every week, and that gets kinda bothersome when you live on a tiny island and have to take a boat for 2 hours to buy new blades when you run out :?

I bought the Cutterpede on a sale and I really like it. Maybe because I can cut 12" papers with it?? hehe I kind of just ended up scrapbooking, it was never planned, thats why I started out wit a 6" trimmer!!

Now I´m waiting for the "new" W R Memorykeepers line with the
16 x 20 Inch Magnetic Mat and the Crafter's Magnetic Anywhere Twist Trimmer. I´ve ordered different blades for it and the magnetic rotary trimmer. I can not wait to try it out :-D

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I have the Making Memories 12 x 12 that folds in half with the magnetic ruler to hold paper in place. Love this trimmer, but it is hard to cut anything smaller than 1 1/2 inches. For those cuts I use a small Fiskars trimmer that I found at Kmart years ago for $1.00 on clearance. It works great for the small jobs.

I keep a Fiskers with a scoring blade only handy for cards but my primary cutter is a 12inch Craft-Lite Cutter (came with 7 or 8 different blades) and is lit from underneath so I can see where I am cutting. I love it.
