Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I have the purple 12" Fiskars that I've had for years now. Does the job well enough, but the wider base one looks better. Maybe if the purple one dies...

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I have 2 Fiskars 12' cutters and I really love them other than my oldest Fiskars trimmer does not always seem to cut straight. I have a CM photo trimmer and wavy cutter and I like both of these although I rarely use the photo trimmer much anymore. I do need to invest in a newer 12: trimmer to take to crops but just haven't found one that I love love love.

I use all of the CM trimmers...the little box one and the straight and decorative ones too. I was a consultant at one time...so, I got them for FREE :-D

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I don't have much of a scrapping space so I'm all about portable - so I stick with the Fiskars purple small one and it gets me most of what I need. Exacto for anything that's thicker.

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I have had the Fiskars orange and grey one for years. I love it. I got back into card making and couldn't find a scoring blade anywhere for it, so I got a cricut green and grey one that came with a cutting and scoring blade, and you guessed it...a week later I was in JoAnn's and lo and behold...scoring blade for my Fiskars.
I would rather have 30 minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special.

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I have had a few different Fiskar trimmers and could never get a straight cut. I use my CM trimmers for big papers and my Personal Trimmer for smaller cuts. I love all 3 of them!
Take care of you,

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I use the basic Fiskars Trimmer for all my straight edge cuts and love that the blade is so easy to come by at any store. And then I have a Creative Memories Decorative Trimmer that makes wavy lines.

mykidsmom wrote: I still use my CM trimmers. The 12 inch is the only one that I found that cuts straight, plus it is very portable. For smaller stuff I use my personal trimmer from 10 years ago when I started scrapbooking. Can you believe it?!

I also use the 12" CM trimmer and find it's the only one the cuts straight also, and I too have the original personal trimmer from 12 years ago when I started scrapbooking. Guess CM makes good products that last!

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I have the MM one - hate it, never pull it out. Then I have the smaller base Fiskars & the larger base Fiskars - I use whichever matches my needed measurement (can't do 3 1/2" on the little one or 5 1/2" on the big one - I'm just not that talented) or I use whichever has the sharpest blade on it - which I am constantly going through on both. I have tried the rotary style, but I can't get the measuring down on them if I'm not wanting to cut a complete strip off.

I have the small Fiskars that I keep in my tote and use on a regular basis and I have the large Fiskars that I don't use that often. Just kinda bulky to take out. The trimmer I couldn't live without is my Perfect Layers. I use it ion every layout I make.

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I have two. The cricut trimmer I've had since early 2007, the other one I picked up last year. Since they are both so portable, I'll probably not replace them anytime soon.

Re: Tools of the trade (Paper Trimmers)
I went through a couple different trimmers that fell apart on me, were not straight cutters, blades did not last long. Then, about a year and a half ago I decided to go with the CM trimmer and I am still using the original blade with it. I may not get a lot of scrapping uploaded here to the site, but I use it all the time, print out all my own pictures. I think its one of my best purchase. I even went back and bought the CM wavy cutter too :-D
